Mother’s Finest

May 12, 2019, 9:03 PM

Can’t believe they are still touring.

That was good stuff back when to road to Central was only two lanes.

I also thought of them today. Played a song on Amazon. Remember well seeing them multiple times at the Grocery next to the Theater in late 70s . Great band , their hanging on and so am I. They could play!

Was a big fan of them and still am. Saw them in person at Winthrop (where my girlfriend at the time went) back in the day (late 70's) and they were awesome. +1 for bringing up a very good band and great memories.

I never heard Mother's Finest...

May 12, 2019, 11:02 PM

I listed to Mothers of Invention a lot but it seems like that was sometime before SC was a state.

MF's lead singer could bring it with any body including Tina Turner and Chaka Khan … legit talent. For those who have never heard the band enjoy this version of Baby Love. The band had 3-4 hits and frequented small Clemson venues in the mid to late 70's and early 80's and rocked it!

Great band back in the day. They came over to my apartment after playing the Corporation with my roommate that was a bartender at the club.

Curious as to who your (4Paws81 ) roommate was? I worked at Corporation when they came. When they did their soundcheck, everyone stopped and watched. We thought ceiling was coming down.

Odd this came as a topic....

At a wedding this past weekend where the band "loose change" from either Atlanta or Augusta played.. I talked with bass player and he said they were still Kickin... Have several of their children playing in the band too.

I remember seeing them at Davis Social Club- Mayesville, SC. on a Sunday afternoon while in high school. Probably 1976 or so.

Not sure.... They are from Ga. though....

In talking with the guy in the band I saw this weekend, they may be in Atlanta now.

Re: Mother’s Finest

May 13, 2019, 10:19 AM

they still tour every year...extremely popular in Europe as they tour there every year...they just released a new album

saw them maybe 6 years ago at the opera house in Newberry...fantastic concert...they stayed at the hotel down the street where we were...talked with them on the elevator after the show and for a while outside of the hotel the following morning before they left...not a nicer group of people

then at the Foundry a few years ago...another excellent concert

next up I'll check them out at Zac Brown's Ampitheatre in Fayetteville GA in August with Wet Willie opening up

I try to check them every 3 years or so...as energetic as they were when I saw them at Tillman
