Says MLB draft worked out the way they thought it would work out. Feel good about the returning group. Says losses like Davidson and Wilkie and Griffith are big pieces to try and replace. Have two guys turn down the draft to sign here. Mack Anglin is one of those guys

Raffield and Strider and Meredith are staying in Clemson this summer to get healthy. Carter Raffield and Spencer Strider won't get on a mound til January. Fall will be important for those two guys

Monte says lot of good pitching coming back with Spiers and Jones and Weatherly and Hennessy and Strider and Raffield, etc., he feels really good about pitching depth heading into next season. Lot of key pieces returning. Return the two guys with most innings in Sharpe and Clark and key bullpen guys. Askew and Lindley also provided big innings, and another year can only help them. Monte says on paper it's the most pitching depth they've had since he's been here

Nice to hear our pitching will be the best since he has been here. We seem to be very athletic as well. Will our hitters be coached to strike out less or is that on our player leaders to be more vocal about that?

I have heard that Monte is extremely concerned about strike outs. He is planning to change to a different bat supplier. I understand he has chosen Slazenger one of the premier manufacturers of Cricket bats.

On the offensive side, Bryar Hawkins will move to third to begin with. James Parker will get a shot at short, Pierce Gallo is a freshman with lots of potential at short, Sam Hall will move to infield (2B and SS), Chad Fairey is very athletic can play third and first, outfield has a lot of returning players. Hackenburg at catcher. Jonathan French out of Parkview will also play catcher - big recruit out of Parkview program.

Davis Sharpe will hit next year - he tired later in the spring so they held down his at-bats. However, Lee says he is too talented to keep on the bench.

Hindsight is 20/20 but wishes he could have gotten Hackenburg more at-bats last season, but catching depth created problems. If they caught Hack then Wilkie couldn't play. Different situation this year. Hack has been really good so far in the Cape Cod League

Monte was asked if season was a success...and he says no. They are not satisfied with what happened. Lot of things to improve on.

Monte says he needs a leader with more fire, emotional, someone who can be energetic in the dugout during the game. Didn't have those personalities last year. Last year leaders were great leaders, but not outspoken guys.

Bryce Teodosio and Sam Hall can be those guys....and there are other guys like Kier Meredith, Michael Green, certainly some candidates in there. But those guys have to step and want to assume that role

Monte Lee says he has spoken with Dan Radakovich about the expectations and of course everybody knows that those are Super Regional and CWS. He says both of them are on the same page. He says the expectations that Drad gave him are between the two of them.

Back to pitching - he needs guys that can get them into the 6th and 7th inning of a ballgame. Has to have guys who can get through the lineup a third time. Every pitcher on his staff will start this fall. He wants to find guys who can do that

Maybe if the defensive players didn't boot the ball around the infield quite so much, some of the pitchers' outings would have come out better...OTOH lots of walks issued.

Monte says they scored 6.49 runs scored per game, he wants to average 7 plus per game to be an elite offense. They stole bases this year and hit homers - but struck out too much. They have to get better at competing with two strikes. Fielded .972 this year, opponents .973 against so Tigers didn't do a good job of putting balls in play. Have to get better at short game, including bunts.

Holt Jones wants to start. He in the Cape Cod League. Has a plus fastball, good slider, but needs to throw strikes with secondary pitches, including changeup. However, he wants to start and Lee has to see him throw three pitches in the stirke zone.

Did our base running calls get any better this past year? I did not see as many games this past year but we had been terrible in that areas, for years.

No more Academic Common Market as of March. Monte says no excuses and they just have to sell Clemson as great academic school and baseball school and says players want to be here.

AS for ACM and loss of funds and not being on level playing field with other schools, Lee says there are no excuses and they simply have to sell what they have.

monte has to say that but we as fans dont. we need to let the powers that be that it is unacceptable to not be on the same level field as other programs. the acm is not just about baseball but all non revenue sports. i have already sent 2 emails to the powers that be. join in please.

Not just for getting these great out of staters, but politically you are giving Monte a “yeah but...” excuse.
We had a disappointing season over all that I think comes down to 2 key areas:
1- Hitting strategy. Long ball game couldn’t stand up in pressure situations
2- Pitching depth.
We are only hurting ourselves-especially with pitchers.
I don’t get it.
