It's unbelievable to me that one year ago ex-spurts were considering Hyatt as a first round pick and now he goes undrafted. Even more incredible is that his uncle, Dan Benish, played on Clemson's 1981 National Championship team and went undrafted. Benish ultimately played 6 or 7 years in the NFL.
Some things in life just aren't fair and only serve to make us stronger. Benish will be good support for Mitch and Mitch will probably be all-pro.

Martez Ivey ... Rivals #1 rated OT in Mitch Hyatt’s class ... who started all four years at Florida also went undrafted.

I think OL is the hardest to predict out of HS. Look how many of these OL are drafted to the NFL from small schools. So many in the NFL werent even OL when they were in HS. There were a bunch of guys drafted that were converted TE's. There was even a guy drafted yesterday who was a QB when he started college football.

OL typically take the most physical development out of HS and therefore are hardest to predict as 17-18 year olds. Also have these guys who are 6’7” 240 entering college and gain 60+ lbs by the time they leave. Mitch was very polished coming out of HS and pretty close to what he was going to be physically so he had a really high floor but a lower ceiling and NFL loves ceiling.

I counted 12 OTs taken in 254 picks, or 4.7% of selections were OTs. On any given team 2 OTs represent 9.1% of players (not counting specialists).
I don't know what % OTs have been in past drafts, but it appears that for at least this year, OTs weren't in demand.

I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly, Mitch was a 5 star recruit. I was extremely excited to get him because, to me, his job was to protect Deshaun Watson's blind side.Watson has been injured the year before, to only come back and beat the Gamecocks! Mitch, a true freshman would have a very high pressure job. What did he do? He excelled at his job. At first, I was scared every time Deshaun went back to pass. But, very early, I knew he was in good hands. Deshaun stayed healthy for the rest of his college career. He was a 2 time Heisman Trophy candidate (should have won at least one), and took us to 2 National Championships, winning one.
All this, thanks to Mitch Hyatt. Thanks, Mitch for what you did for our Tigers. You deserved better from the draft.

We're all disappointed for him that he wasn't drafted and drafted early, but people have got to stop thinking that all 32 teams are stupid and don't know what they're doing. This isn't the case.
But what we all hope is that he now shows the Cowboys and then the NFL that he's better than they thought.
He's got something to prove - am pulling for him to do just that!!!

rounder. Most CFB pundits don't actually know anything at all about the draft and where guys are going to get drafted. It's the same situation as Tajh Boyd. The media talked about him as a 1st rounder during his JR year, but the scouts were clearly never impressed. A year later he goes at the very end of the 6th round, not because his stock fell that much, but because he was never a 1st round QB to begin with.
