List of Stats for Clemson's National Championship

This year Clemson beat the last 7 National Championship Teams and 9 of the last 10 coaches and/or teams to win the NC. (Includes 2 for Meyers at Florida)

In the last 2 years Clemson beat 23 of the teams and/or coaches that won the NC in the 34 years since we won it in 1981 (some were co-champs and counting Spurrier's 2015 SC team as his) also 52 of the last 80 (poll era).

Alabama had 36% of it's offense on 3 plays.
Alabama gave up 19 TD passes in the last 17 games, 4 of those to Watson(threw 3 more) and Renfrow.
Alabama gave up 6 rushing TDs (this year? Not sure of this), We scored 2 of them.

Any more?

In the last two playoff games we averaged more than twice as many first downs, total yards, and points as our opponents

Alabama had some key advantages that kept it close.

Clemson lost the turnover margin by 2

Clemson started with significantly worse field position – Alabama starting field position was 35 while Clemson was 23. Clemson started 7 possessions inside the 20 while Alabama only started 2 inside the 20.

36 points total to be scored in the 4th quarter all season before our game. We scored 21 in the 4th quarter against them. (pretty amazing if you ask me!)


...yep... I just looked it up. And even more amazing, the last team to score on them in th 4th quarter (before us) was Arkansas (6 points) on October 8th!!!!

99 plays against the best defense. I think those SEC morons spent the whole game talking about Alabama's defense being the best ever while our defense kicked their butt all over the place.

They certainly had first downs (remember the WR pass to the TE? and the 4th down conversion?), however they did not convert a 3rd down in the second half. In fact they started 2 for 3 on third down, before going 0-12 to finish the game.
