I'm just gonna straight up say it...

Mar 6, 2020, 5:33 PM

If Monte doesn't sign some hitters and/or hire a hitting coach that can develop these guys at the plate, he will be pink slipped sooner rather than later.

And he will deserve it sooner than later.

Monte is a good hitting coach

Mar 6, 2020, 6:20 PM

For POWER guys. He definitely has produced some legit power guys. I think he is out of his element when it comes to the contact hitters. I don’t think it is a talent issue. I think we need to hire an actual hitting coach.

I really thought we were going to get away from going backwards and start hitting these guys. Just bring the DL from the football team and let the hitting begin. They need a strategy when they need power.

They maybe beaten up but this hitting this young team might just scare them into hitting to keep from the other teams hitting.

We need a hit’em coach to keep their reactions sharp. ????

Fire, fire fire.......

I love how people think they're going to pink slip a coach that hasn't been close to missing the tournament his whole tenure and has won a conference title.

Normal teams don't fire coaches who keep them in the dance and the top 25. Monte's first year was 2016, this is his first year with his own players and they have not been beat two out of three yet.

People on this message board are insane with their expectations, we didn't fire Leggett after 3 straight 3 seed California tournament appearances without a single win, Monte wins 2-3 times every regional. Last time Clemson hosted, they beat Vanderbilt but lost the last matchup.

Pitching is clearly fixed, give the freaking man the whole season to get his young teams bats hot. You don't win 10-7 in the NCAA tournament, you need pitching, we start 11-4, we're on our way.

This post is idiocy. Leggett advanced out of a regaional at least every four years until the one time he didn’t and we fired him the next season. Lee failed to advance with Okey and Beer on the same team and a home regional. It was a dud hire and has proven it on the field. We fired Leggett because all the pieces were supposed to be in place to win championships and Lee was supposed to (guaranteed to by many on this board) immediately deliver.

He was supposed to win immediately when 3 of Leggett's last 4 years he failed to reach 40 wins?

That’d be a pretty dumb thing to say.

21/22 seasons coached in the NCAA tourney. 11 Super Regionals (a 50% rate). 6 CWS. That is the legacy Lee inherited along with brand new facilities and the national player of the year. Yes, he should of won immediately.

Lol. Montes teams have never won 3 games in a regional. If you win 3, you advance. And what does it matter if he wins a game or two in a regional if you don’t advance? This isnt basketball, you don’t count tournament wins as an accomplishment. Advancing is what matters. The fact is, he has not done what he was hired to do. Clemson baseball always makes the NCAA tournament. That’s a given. Monte wasn’t hired to just make the NCAA tournament. He was hired to take us to the next level, something Jack had done many times, just not in a while. Heck we could have kept Jack and gotten the same results Monte has gotten. Yes Monte won an ACC championship in his first year with Jacks players. But then he was promptly beaten down in his own regional as a national seed. Then it happened again and again. Last year we limped Into the ncaas as a three seed and this year it will be a miracle if we make the postseason. His trajectory has clearly gone in the wrong direction. People have a right to be concerned.

LOL Clemson has not come close to winning a regional since ML has been here .
At Clemson winning 40 games is not that big of a deal . We should be a real contender just about every year. There is absolutely no excuse for the skid Clemson baseball is in.

He gets credit for the ACC championship. However, we aren’t in Omaha in the next two years I’m ready to try again. He’s done above average here, however we are better than an above average program.

I’m hoping the pitching carries us and the bats come around. I’m not too sure though. I need something to follow other than football now that basketball is over. Go Softball?
