I wish Bowman well....

Oct 1, 2020, 10:57 PM

But we still have a stable of strong backs, and oh don’t forget, Will Shipley is coming in soon.

I still wish him well and peace. I would have loved to see the CJ like performances.

You know, since this yer doesn't count towards eligibility... Etienne could return for another year.

Somebody finally gets it. ^^^

Lets be consistent with Shipley here though

Oct 2, 2020, 9:50 AM

Tigernet loves to talk about how RBs have to do a lot more than just run the ball at Clemson. They have to learn how to block yada yada yada. Why would Shipley be any different? He won't be a good blocker next year as a true FR... he just won't. So why should we count on him being a big difference maker at RB next year? The answer here is that we shouldn't.

2021 was ideally going to be the year where we saw the jump from Bowman.

We heard about ETN struggling to block 4 years ago. I'm not sure that we have heard of a running back losing time on the field since due to lack of blocking ability.

ETN struggled with blocking and was still the 3rd string RB, who moved to 2nd string by the end of the year. Blocking may have limited him, but it didn't bury him on the depth chart.

Bowman was sitting behind 6 other guys currently, some of whom are not good blockers, one of them being a lower rated true freshmen.

There were clearly other things he was struggling with. Based on the way Bowman ran in his few carries, I would guess that knowing where the hole is and what to do on certain plays was one of his issues.

Agreed....but I've yet to see one of our transfers blow it

Oct 2, 2020, 9:52 AM

up. Maybe he'll be the first. When you aren't use to the amount of hard work Clemson holds you accountable to it drives players that can't handle it to be homesick.

Those that come out of it often have a lot of success!

I’m pretty sure Mr. Bowman was self-motivated and an extremely hard worker. Fish for some other silly reason.

Have we ever had a comparable transfer?

Oct 2, 2020, 10:07 AM [ in reply to Agreed....but I've yet to see one of our transfers blow it ]

Most of our transfers have been guys that weren't really good enough to see the field much at Clemson. We've never had a 5* transfer three weeks into his career.
