QB stats at scrimmage

Mar 30, 2017, 8:09 AM

First-team quarterback Kelly Bryant was 8-14 for 94 yards. He also had a rushing touchdown. Zerrick Cooper was 4-10 for 28 yards and a touchdown, while Tucker Israel was 7-13 for 37 yards. Freshman Hunter Johnson completed 5-11 for 110 yards and a score.

I don't look at these #'s as a QB weakness but rather a defensive strength. These numbers aren't bad by any means...other than Bryant you'd expect better during a game tho...but look who they are facing. Best defense in the country. We will be fine next year at QB.

Dabo also said that out receivers dropped a few balls that Were good throws by Bryant, including one deep ball.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

I was hoping for a little more out of Cooper. 28 yards on

10 attempts is really bad. Israel also struggled with just 3 YPA, but i think we kind of expected that. Hopefully Cooper plays better in the spring game.

Dabo said Cooper had about 3 drops yesterday as well which is why his numbers were low

I wonder how many drops HJ had. Anyone know?***

Not sure but apparently drops were a big issue yesterday. It'll be interesting to see how the qbs perform in the spring game. It'll be the closest thing to a game like atmosphere before the first game. Some guys play different when the lights come on

Yup, change that 4/10 to 7/10 for cooper with proper catching and all of a sudden people are claiming he's the one that showed out.

Exactly. Really depends who they are running with the majority of the time too. The spring game should provide a little more evenly matched teams so we may be able to see what we've got.

Maybe we need to be concerned about all the drops? Yes it helps to feel better about the QB stats... but WHY SO MANY DROPS?

Remember the first few games last year? Dropped a bunch and then all of a sudden we were catching everything again

These stats mean nothing without film

Mar 30, 2017, 10:22 AM

What if a QB missed a wide open receiver and pulled it down to run? Wouldn't come up on the stat sheet, but on film it would grade out very poorly

No rushing stats are given, which is kind of a big deal.***
