“I plan on taking this team to places it’s never really been before”

|
A quote from Will Muschump in his post game presser. And I mean this presser was priceless. He also says when asked about why he feels confident he can get the job done there:
“I’ve been the coach on national championship teams and multiple conference championship teams and I plan on taking this team to places it’s never really gone before.”
And also: “we are not as far off as people seem to think we are, and that’s the frustrating thing for us. “
It’s even better when he tries to explain why they are having trouble this year. This is a much watch if you want a good laugh. We hit the jackpot when this team was assigned as our rival.

They will be worse next year too. Losing Edwards is a huge loss. They dont reload.

His answer for ineptitude is always, “We’ve just got to get better.” That’s what’s going to get him canned. Leaders don’t want excuses; they want a plan, and they want to see progress.
Saying he has had consistent support from Tanner, BOT and president is an attempt to box them in. Tanner was interviewed before the radio broadcast of the game and kept emphatically stating he’s 100% behind the coach, but he has no choice because, in reality, they’re inseparably linked at this point. And both have desperation in their voices.
No plan, no hope, and - if you believe what you hear - no accountability.
I don’t think the president is foolish enough to buy what these two are selling. And he doesn’t seem patient enough to withstand the criticism that will come with giving them more time.
Hope I’m wrong but WM is about to have a bunch of money in his bank account and plenty of free time on his hands.

He is saying what he has to say, which is quite understandable. Many coaches would do this.
Reality has nothing to do with it.

Spurrier was a cruel experiment that ruined that fan base into thinking they were a top 10 team. I don’t see how/why they would get rid of Muschamp. I think he gets them above the 5 win mark most years.

Well, you could start by giving him a contract extension with a pay increase to bring him up to par with some of the other Top Head Coaches in America.
Seems pretty obvious, right?

I'm no Coot fan and maybe I shouldn't be telling Coots what to do with their coach, but before they even talk about getting another coach they need to clean the house of people that are running the show. (Tanner) The AD is the one that hires and gives votes of confidence etc. Get him out of there and THEN hire a coach. I don't think Muschamp is going to get fired this year. Maybe, next year.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately $$$) for him, the eskimos aren’t buying the ice he’s selling anymore. To his credit though, I don’t think I’ve seen two linemen on the same team block each other like they did at Florida, so maybe he’s got something like that in mind? #neverbefore

The interesting thing about his comments is that the bar isn't even all that high. Objectively, they had a very tough schedule this year, but most years, outside of Clemson/Georgia/Florida(?), their SECe schedule is not *that* difficult if you're an above-average squad.
So in reality, if he can get them to be a solid top 20-25 team year-in, year-out, he would be universally loved down there.
Where it also gets weird is that Florida is on the rise as a program. Tennessee seems to be finally trending upwards. TAMU (whom they always play) can always attract talent and is likely on the rise.
Bottom line is that becoming the 3rd best team in the SECe is up for grabs, but they better act fast lest they fall to Vanderbilt status.
