2 seasons removed from sweet 16. Best recruiting class coming in next season. Will have most talented team of his tenure next season. Would be a huge, not very smart and unforgivable mistake to fire him before next season and possibly lose the recruits and many of the current players to transfer. And he is a good, well respected coach who is in year 4 of building something very special for Clemson basketball.

budget for assistant coaches, and program support staff he had been asking for.
Since then, we've seen improvement in wins and recruiting. Some of us feel that it's only fair to give him another year or two to see if he can keep the momentum going.

Quit being a naive dreamer about Brownell - he's not going to get it done.

Power 3? Is the third in your power group NC State or Syracuse? It was great to finally end the streak in Chapel Hill, but UNC is 3-8 in the conference right now. Let's face it, the only really good win we have this year is Duke. There are only 3 top teams in the ACC this year - Louisville, Duke, and FSU, but we did manage to beat 1 of them. Virginia (and I guess 1 more out of a cluster of mediocre teams) might make the tournament, but they still have some work to do. The ACC is simply not the gauntlet it used to be with 6-8 top teams every year in a 9 team conference!

For example, the year we won our only regular season conference championship in basketball (1990), there were only 3 ranked ACC teams: #9 Georgia Tech, #15 Duke, and #17 Clemson.
Yes, the ACC had several powerful programs at that time, and we had to play those schools twice. I'm not doubting how challenging that was. But now, even though we don't play every tough team twice, we do play some of them twice, and we also have to contend with Louisville, Syracuse, etc.
The ACC is still a very tough league.
