Clemson vs Carolina on Big Thursday. I that I would share with you guys. It’s the oldest game I have found so far. I hope the link works.

ESPN Gameday was just a one man show back then with host Lee Corso. Nice to see the game was sponsored by the Esso Club.

I went to that game. I think I was in 7th grade. It rained and rained til game time. Wadiak ran all over the field. We were lucky to get the tie. Our seats were on the first row. Dad had asked my high school principal to go with us.

I was in grammar school, the first college game I ever saw. Fell in love with the TIGERS and have been a fan ever since. I thought Billy Hair was the greatest. He ran, passed and kicked. Look at how people used to dress to go to a football game, coats and ties, ladies wearing hats. Times have changed. Thanks for that memory!

Thanks for posting. Interesting to see the single wing. Saw ECU run it in the early 70s vs Furman. Tigers finished 9-0-1, 3-0-1 in the SoCon and beat Miami in the Orange Bowl 15-14. Beat AU 41-0, Mizzou 34-0 and BC 35-14. Ranked 10th in the AP and 12th in the UPI. u5c ended up with a 3-4-2 record. The tie was part of a run of six non winning games against the birds from 1949 thru the 1954 season

Should pull an Alabama and claim a national title that year.

How do you keep Gamecocks out of your yard?
• Put up goal posts
What does a Gamecock grad call a Clemson Tiger grad in 2 years?
• Boss
