Yesterday, Monte called for Parker to bunt in a similar situation and he failed miserably to make it happen.

He is swinging as well as any we have and because of yesterday’s failed attempt, I doubt Monte would have called for it had the wild pitch not happened.

I my playing days, a bunt WAS HAPPENING in that same situation.

Just depends on who is up. Parker had a better chance of a pop or hit than a successful bunt.

You DO NOT BUNT! with your best hitter at the plate. They even talked about how our best coach ever NEVER bunted. So I don’t get the hate that people give Monte for not bunting. I’ve watched our guys try to bunt and they are just not good at it. They are better off swinging the bat

Few coaches practice bunting enough to make it a reliable tool these days. Bunting well is hard. We practiced that at least every other practice growing up if not every practice after coach pitch. A Monte team will never be effective at bunting; unless an assistant comes in and stresses it.

I was a left handed batter who was really fast. So if I saw a 3rd basemen was playing back I wouldn’t hesitate to put one down the line. But it just isn’t the same game anymore. And that’s not a bad thing. People want to see homers and hard hit balls. I mean look at some of these big leaguers like Aaron judge. You used to never see baseball players that big. I mean, 6’8” 280 pounds playing baseball???? Outfield no less?!?! Lmao
