I never had the Vesuvian. My tastes were a little bit simpler back then. I always had Chanello's deliver a hot roast beef sub. I can still taste it. I'll have to try the Vesuvian next time I'm in Clemson.

I remember, it was very good. Any plans to make the Study Hall $5 1/2lb Mushroom Swiss burger? That was great too.

Any of you that ate a Versuvian Sub

During 1980 and 81 during daytime hours were most likely enjoying a sandwich made by “yours truly”.
Great quality food was used in Chanello’s. The stories I can tell about the happenings in that place.
My then girlfriend now wife of 36 years painted the front windows of the store . Worked out great she was a student at Winthrop and it took her 6 long weekends to finish the job .
I miss being at Clemson as a student. Looking back I wish I had enjoyed it more and stressed less.
Go Tigers !

the Vesuvian was just hamburger meat, lettuce, tomato, etc... but

an oversized hamburger patty big enough for a sub roll. I'm not sure why it was so dang good, maybe the way they steamed or toasted it. Hopefully the guy above who worked there can chime in.
Somebody mentioned the Study Hall mushroom swiss burger, holy crap, that was the bomb. For a couple years 2 guys on my hall worked at Study Hall, they were roommates and went by "T & H" (Tidwell & Horace). I'd order a large pizza and they'd load it up for me, felt like it weighed 10 pounds. LOL
I scanned this in a while back from a 1976 The Tiger student newspaper:

I can't remember exactly when it closed but I think it was before I graduated (1995). I enjoyed going there and being able to sit and hide from the world. Great pizza too. I was really sad when it shut down.

There is a Chanello's Pizza still in Clemson. It is located behind Sardi's and Goobers at 500 Old Greenville Hwy Clemson, SC. If you notice, it is spelled differently. The original Chanelo's had only one L.
