How do coaches fix this 2020 O-Line?

Nov 8, 2020, 9:11 PM

Inexperience with a lack of depth is a double whammy. Is there some hidden talent on the bench? Is there an opportunity to shift things up by moving a tackle to guard and/or a guard to center, or even a DT to Offense? Is it too late to coach these guys up?

Honestly? Not likely. One knock I have had on the O line for 3+ years is that not one of them seems to have a nasty streak. They have decent size, although ND lineman looked MONSTEROUS last night compared to our line. But the best lineman I have seen had a mean, nasty attitude. Having good kids is great, but when they step on the field they need to be roadgrading, charging rhinos. They can still he good student athletes. Look at Skalski. The dude on the sideline is all smiles..but on the field he is an assassin. THAT in my opinion is what they have been missing for a long time.

+1 on Skalski. He is a rock and a leader like Wilkins and Boulware.

Other than playing some new guys I think we are stuck since its midseason. Straight on blocking and getting a push in short yardage just isnt what this group is good at

How about some new techniques? But I guess chop blocking is now illegal.

We need to keep on recruiting 6'8'' guys of German descent from the midwest.

Seems the only option for this season is to try steroids. With the extensive covid testing, likely wouldn't be detected.

Run outside the tackles and pass the ball. Plenty of teams have won championships without being very good at running right up the gut.

The New England Patriots come to mind.

Always had a good Oline. They could run up the middle when needed. That's what LeGarret Blounte did.
They won 3 Super Bowls with him. Next?
