Hot take: The offense is completely fine

We just put up 612 yards of total offense and 8.6 yards per play on the road against what was supposed to be our hardest conference opponent of the season. The gameplans have been basic and vanilla, and we're still moving the ball at will against our competition.
The Lawrence turnovers seem to be the result of the coaches encouraging him to extend plays and become better once plays break down. If he improves in that aspect of his game, the offense will be truly unstoppable. We could play it conservatively and encourage him to throw it away or check it down, but the coaches know if he puts in the reps that there is a ton of potential for huge plays when you combine his arm strength with ability of our WRs.
The only thing I'd like to see more out of the offense is more throws to the middle of the field. That's been a legitimate criticism of the offense for several years now though.

Only 2 comments about the offense. On 3rd and 8 plays, I wish we would throw an 8 yard pass rather than a 30 or 40 yard pass. Number 2, end all bubble screens before somebody gets hurt for a 2 yard gain.

Several people talk about injuries on the screen passes, but just how many injuries have we seen come from those? Someone will read this and point out the Jacoby Ford injury against VT, but that was how many years ago now? We've ran them at least a few times per game for several years now, so if they're so dangerous you'd think we've have several injuries to receivers as a result. Sure, the receiver could take a hard hit if a block is missed, but how's that any more of a risk of being hit by a safety on a pass further down the field?

To me, you risk an injury for a play that seldom works. It is not about past injuries, it's about what could happen in the future. Why keep running a play that gains very little yardage.

Pretty sure one of the goals of the screen game is to get the corners to start playing a little closer to the line of scrimmage and/or making a first step toward the line of scrimmage to defend the screen, and then you burn them deep for a touchdown later. If you never run a screen, it makes it much harder to get open on the deeper passes.
Also didn't Amari take a screen the length of the field this past game also? Maybe it wasn't a screen but just a short pass.

As a rule the opposing defense will dictate which pass play is called! If the defense is designed to stop a short pass on third down most coaches will opt to throw over the coverage. That is the way the game is played, like it or not! Well coached teams like our Clemson Tigers design the plays and formations to confuse the opponents.

Watching teams like Bama, Oklahoma, and OSU play, they have receivers running wide open all the time, especially Bama. Tua hits a receiver wide open on a slant and he takes it 50 yards. We don’t seem to have any of that in our offense. It’s like we want to take the hard route - all out routes and go routes with a few deep crossing routes. Why don’t we incorporate into our offense what seems to be getting receivers wide open for these other teams?

B/C if the teams you mention run it so well they practice "defending it". Probably at a real high level.

No complaints.
Just an observation; Diondre Overton is amazingly absent so far! 6'5 slot guy should be getting matched up with a nickel CB(usually slighter build).
Asking not saying - anyone think the lack of receptions to him is a lack of willingness to take to layup. Because we may be looking for the big play down field too much?
I think Overton and Rogers in the slot is like stealing. Maybe Bama has the personnel but most teams won't have the players to match up both with a stocky/speedster and a 6'5 basketball player in the slot.
The thought came to mind that maybe these are plays "we can get anytime" and we don't want to show a ton of video on how you could defend it.

65% ehhh, "what are the coaches thinking"
25% decent, "drink beer, wait for next play"
