I remember back in the late 1990's drinking at a bar in Switzerland (LEGALLY and under 21yo...lol). Bartender was from Miami. He said he made $19/hr, which floored us. BUT, right across the street from the hotel was a McDonalds. At the time a Big Mac was equivalent to $6(US) at the time. At the time, in the US, at minimum wage, you would earn roughly 3 Big Mac's an hour at US prices/minimum wage. As a bartender making $19/hr in Switzerland, he was making...yep, 3 Big Mac's an hour. He said don't let the money fool you. Everything is expensive there, and you're no better off really. He lived in a hostel nearby.
And today? Same thing. Won't help a thing. But relativity is something lost on many people.
