Ken Hatfield did step into a tough situation by following Danny Ford who was and still is loved by Tiger Nation. He inherited a program that had NCAA sanctions placed on them and he performed better than I thought he would at the time. Clemson hired him because he had a squeaky clean reputation, but he was never a Clemson man. His biggest mistake was telling Terry Allen that he wouldn't make it in the NFL and Terry Allen bolted to the NFL to prove Hatfield wrong, Oh my goodness, I'm getting old, that was 30 years ago, lol.

thought he could simply coach. Didnt have to recruit, build facilities, advertise.
