The virus SUCKS

Dec 8, 2020, 4:02 PM

I am sure that many of you agree with me, and will be glad when 2020 is over! I don't know if I have seen this talked about, but what happens if the virus prevents the ACC Championship game or the SEC Championship game on December 19th? I guess since there is no fans, maybe they could be rescheduled for another time. But, boy would it cause a cluster if one or both of those games could not be played! I hope things work out and Clemson beats ND, OSU is not able to play in their championship game, and AL beats FL in their game.

GO TIGERS!!!

2021 will suck too I bet. They need 70% of the population to get vaccinated supposedly.

No on both fronts.

Those unwilling to take the vaccine is normally about 25%. Those not likely to get a Vaccine is likely to be between 40-50%. My guess, it will trend towards 25% than 50%. I think there is enough pressure to have maybe a 60-70% vaccination rate with ease.

Flu vaccines about 50% annually in the US and that is actually only a 40-60% effective vaccine due to how the flu mutates and other factors.

Still 50% vaccination rate of a 50% effective vaccine equates to 56% reduction in cases over three infection cycles depending on how many folks could be infected. Simple math: Assume 1 person can infect 10 people, over three cycles it would be 1x10x10xx10=1,000 OR if vaccinated 1x7.5x7.5x7.5=462.

Even if you have a 95% effective vaccine and only 1/2 the folks get it, well assume that even 1 person comes into contact with 20, rather than having 1 person infect 8,000 (1x20x20x20) people, then you only have 1 person infecting 1,157 folks over three cycles OR a reduction in cases of about 84%. That is a big deal.

However, I can see that a lot of employers will mandate that employees become vaccinated. I expect that students will be required to be vaccinated to attend public schools, so I expect that voluntary rates might be 50% but then you will have an additional layer mandatory vaccinations to drive it up.

Hate to break it to you

But the virus ain't going away in 2021 or any time after. We may have a vaccine or two, but it's still going to be around, just like the "common flu" is today (it was a pandemic once, too). People will continue to catch it, and more will die from it, unfortunately. But on the flip side, as it works its way through the population, we'll get some herd immunity developing and, perhaps more importantly, science and medicine will begin to understand it better and know better how to treat it and also to avoid it.

The big question mark is will the politicians let life proceed, or will they continue to try to micromanage and be our over-protective mother. I wouldn't be surprised if we continue to see limited crowds in the fall of 2021. Or will be we required to show proof of vaccination before we can participate in certain functions?

This isn't going away any time soon, I'm afraid.

There is a chip in the vaccine that will allow you to enter the sporting events that have the Covid walk through monitors. Biden is having them made now and hopefully will distribute no later than late August.

To add to this, I heard they will just upload tickets to your chip. No more standing in line for someone to scan your ticket. As you walk through it confirms COVID vaccine as well as your seat #.

Bureaucratic Incompetency

Dec 8, 2020, 4:57 PM

This was likely and foreseeable.

The ONLY reason this is happening the BIG10 decided to cancel their season, then dragged their feet for weeks, before changing their minds after the BIG12, ACC, and SEC decided to play without them.

Everyone should remember how flawed their decision-making process was. The ACC planned for contingencies....the BIG10 went full "stupid" and did not.

The ACC and SEC were lead by problem-solving adults. The BIG10 took its marching orders from short-sighted incompetent bureaucrats.

This is what bureaucratic incompetency looks like.

Covid 19 is a part of our lives now it will never go away. They have been fighting the Flu for a hundred years and still 50-60 K people die on good years

I hope our leaders have the backbone to limit what activities people can be involved in without proof of taking the vaccine. Example, no vaccination, no school attendance; no vaccination, no airline travel; no vaccination, no car rental; no vaccination, no concert or sporting event attendance. And the list can go on. When I was a kid no one asked me if I wanted a vaccination; when I was inducted into the army, no one asked if I wanted to receive the 7 to 10 inoculations that were required. No one will be forced to get a vaccination, they can choose to live under a rock instead.

Wow so you want the government having full over reach into your life? Personally I DO NOT TRuST a vaccine created in one year. Most vaccines in history have been created over decades. All the events in our country are about so much more than the virus, it’s about establishing power and moving towards a one world socialist government. If you want to sign yourself up for that, go ahead

Most of y'all weren't around when polio, smallpox, mumps, measles, whooping cough, etc. were some diseases we feared. Too bad, maybe you would understand. Ever seen a kid in an "iron lung" or with a deformed spine or legs because of polio? No, well look it up.
My generation was required to have a smallpox vaccination before first grade (kindergarten had not been invented) and the vaccine left a scar at best and sometimes a seriously inflamed arm. I don't remember anyone complaining. Most were happy just to be protected.
The Salk and Sabine polio vaccines came along later and Dr. Salk injected his vaccine first in his own kids as test subjects. The deal was something had to be done and quick. That, my friends, is the way America used to function. There wasn't any whining and moaning or political posturing involved. They just did what was necessary.

Personally, i am one of 30,000 volunteers in the Moderna vaccine trial and had two injections. No idea if it was a placebo or the vaccine yet. Hopefully, it was the vaccine. If not, i will be in line for it as soon as possible.

So do what you want, it's a free country. And if you don't mask up, don't keep your distances, still think covid-19 is a hoax and you get the virus, good f$#%ing luck. You deserve it. No sympathy here.

I assume you were also around for the 120,000 children who were injected with vaccine from a California laboratory that accidentally contained live polio virus. Take your I'm smarter than everyone else attitude and shove it. There are valid concerns when a vaccine is rushed.
