Didn't we lose a recruit once due to a Chick fil-A fiasco? This is serious stuff.

This is such a special team and a special time in Clemson's history. What a great story for the future... You remember that time that...... These guys will remember what they ate at the White House and I hope they never take themselves so seriously that they cannot laugh at this.

Dabo should have taken some smokin pig to Trump, he probably would move the Whitehouse to Clemson after that.

They say he’s always been paranoid about his food, thus eats so much fast food because he trusts it. Three quarter pounders and two fillet o fish is his typical dinner (with the bread removed).

All politics aside, I appreciate the fact that he didn’t cancel and is still holding this event.

Although the fast food is an interesting side note, our Tigers get a rare honor and reward in getting to see the White House and meet the President.

Amidst this sea of partisan palaver. Do you think these young men care what they're served? Heck, they are in the White House with the President and their beloved teammates and coaches celebrating a National Championship. Seeing it in any other light is self delusional and, frankly, disrespectful to this squad of American champions.

Geez. What a time to be alive.

Technically providing crap from Mickey D’s would be catering

No one in the food/bev industry would say “Lunch catered by McDonalds.”

You’d be laughed out of the building. If you can get it through a drive thru, it ain’t catering.

He’s the reason White House staff is furloughed in the first place.

Plus, unless it is a state event, he has to pay anyway.

Pretty sad and cheap. Living up to expectations yet again.

In addition to the shutdown, they were dealing with this:

Great comment posted at Deadspin: “What an amazing self own it is that Cheetolini’s idea of catering is sending out some aides on a Mickey D’s run because he’s too cheap for a real catering company.”

Serve us fast food at the WH, fine. I wouldn’t but whatever you think would be fun Trump it is your call. However the second he blamed Dems for this he made it political. Do Not Ever use my Tigers as political pawns. (Side note WH food budget...not part of the shutdown). Not cool.

As for using "Clemson" you better be an alum. Don't care about the party, but I will only forgive alums for linking to Clemson... no one else.

From NYmag.com, "An interesting theory as to why Trump catered the Clemson feast last night mostly with McDonald’s:

"Donald Trump bragged in a Rick Reilly book that he got free McDonald’s for life because he appeared in an ad. That’s why he 'bought' fast food dinners for Clemson."

Trump cheerleading. I realize the people who run this operation had to cover the WH visit; that’s legitimate. But read the coverage: every last bit of it has been couched in terms of “Trump did this” and “Trump did that.” (Just look at the headline on this article we’re discussing.) I write for a living, and I can tell you this whole event could have been covered in a way that wasn’t Trump/Trump/Trump...they could have focused on the TEAM. In any event, this may be my last post; this kind of criticism is likely to get me banned.
