Gamecocks Recruiting Didn't Address HUGE Issue

Dec 19, 2019, 9:09 AM

Despite some quality prospects heading to the Capital City, they missed on a key component. As a result, next year won't be any better than this past season.

They forgot to recruit a Head Coach.

Does Muschamp ever seem like a likable guy? We know he can't hire or coach worth a dang. Muschamp's presser yesterday was pathetic. What a whiner. For the life of me, I can't understand why a kid would want to play for him.

My greatest hope is that he goes 6-6 next year, is retained, loses a sucky bowl game to end 6-7. I want the dumpster fire in Columbia to smolder for as long as possible.

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

Honest question because I haven't even looked at their list of recruits, but did they sign anyone on the offensive line that is better than the players they currently have?

I know they are excited about their new RB, but will they be able to block for him enough to push them under the 100 area in team rushing rankings?

Fair question and valid point. Without looking at their commitment list I'd respond, is there an OL recruit that can really make an impact as a freshman? Very few can due to the complexity of the position and the need to grow in the weight room.

I'd also say that if you look back at recruiting history, anytime the coots get a very highly recruited RB or QB prospect, he winds up being slightly above average at best. I can't think of a single Gamecock RB or QB prospect that has ever lived up to the hype.

This time next year, we won't be talking about Muschamp anymore. Our Chicken friends will be lauding whatever poor soul agrees to be the new head clucker.

Very good point on the development of o linemen which makes my question even more important.

If they didn't add any guys better than their current roster then he is likely to spend his entire career behind a sub-par line because by the time the 2021 class is in their 3rd year (the year most 3 star linemen are ready) in the program he may be gone.

To be fair. He is a GC player. He'll likely need to stay 4 years.

George Rogers lived up to the hype . Outside of the rivalry , that guy was incredibly good at the collegiate level .

In related news, take a look at OL recruiting for Florida State this year. Still no high-quality OL. You can even look back over the past five years 0L recruiting at Florida State, very few four stars, almost all three stars, and this is consistent with what we have seen on the field.

Great point. They were also excites about getting a 4 star QB. When has FSU every had an issue getting 5 star QB's.

FSU is getting to be a bigger and bigger building project.

I have a misplaced sense of pity for the Yard Chickens QB/RB's because they are probably going to get pasted and hit with injuries b/c the O-Line issue has not been addressed through recruiting. We all see the dumpster fire burning but do any of the Coots in Cooterville????

I think 7-5 would keep him another year. At 6-6, they may be forced by the big givers (those are dumb by the way) to fire muschamp and that baseball coach AD they have. What I love though is the gap continues to bigger and bigger. They brag on a 17th ranked class which can't play with our Best Ever. The beatings will continue on into the future.

My dad is in his 80's and in good health. He said yesterday, "I may not live to see another loss by our Tigers." He may be right! He was talking in general, not vs just the lowly coots.

Agree....but I'd love to see 6-7! 6-7 is such a crappy record because it screams, "I struggled to get into a bowl and proved I didn't need to be there."

If they go 7-5 next year, that's pretty good. But find me 7 wins on that scheduled!

Bye, bye Boom.
