Free throws have cost us for years

Jan 22, 2020, 7:25 AM

I've been a CU basketball fan for years now
and can tell you this team is no different at the stripe
than the past teams were.

We have mostly stunk at the line. The streak at Chapel Hole
would have ended years ago if we could have made a higher
number of FTs.

Someone needs to wait on a full moon, and bury a bloody chicken
foot somewhere on the grounds of Littlejohn.

Something gotta break this curse...dang!

Agree and this problem (or curse) transcends coaches through decades. So many times with a lead down the stretch, get fouled and can’t make the FT’s. Same effect as a turnover.

No, not the same as a turnover.

Their best scorer picked up his 2nd, 3rd and 4th fouls sending Trapp to the line. Once we were in the double bonus and they couldn't Hack-a-Trapp, our other guys were 5-6 in the last minute.

Why was Trapp on the floor at the end of the game?

Why was the ball in his hands?

Literally anyone including people pulled from the stands could do better than the 2 for whatever he hit from the line.

Had he not been in we may not have won the game. Dude killed it on the defensive boards in the last 6 minutes. He had at least three defensive rebounds in a row. Brownell made the smart play to have him inbound the ball. Tradition dictates point guard is a good free throw shooter, but it is not working that way for us right now.

Jan 22, 2020, 8:12 AM

In free throw percentage?

Yes! Lead at least 1 year, maybe with DeVoe, Grantham, et al.

His point is that we take the good stats for granted and forget about them because we focus on the bad.

It's like arguing with your spouse. The words "always" and "never" are totally untrue, and if you use them you lose all credibility in your argument.

Yes, and we've had several good years under BB. How soon get forget.

If Tyson makes his foul shots in 1990

Jan 22, 2020, 9:08 AM

we move on to the elite 8. Foul shots were an issue before 1990 and have been an issue with every team since. I'm sure the teams have practiced foul shots through the years but they can't hit them with any consistency during games.
