that Tiger Woods had on golf purses, and the PGA Tour in general, think of this.

I just watched on YouTube the final round broadcast of the 1980 U.S. Open, which was the richest purse in golf at the time. It was won by Jack Nicklaus, his 16th major title win.

His winners share of the purse? All of $55,000.

I remember him saying when he won $200,000 in one of the Skins Games, later on, that it was the largest single check he had ever won in golf.

A tie for 31st in this years U.S. Open paid $52,000.

The winner, Bryson DeChambeau, received $2,250,000.

Like him or not, and I loved watching him play golf, he brought the game into a new era. Thats not to discount the technology in drivers that has added about 10 yds to everyone with 4 or $500 dollars.

He has always been a polarizing figure and has kind of caused the NBA's Post Jordan era to creep into golf.
