I wouldn't argue about it really. I've always found him to be comically overrated.

I'm not even sure the guy from the Sopranos was even playing the guitar. He strummed a lot, but you couldn't hear it. Actually I'm not sure ANY of them were really playing an instrument.

Most singers from the '60's and '70's suck now

Bruce had some great music, but you probably had to be there. His first couple of lp's were great, he went commercial with Born to Run, but made up for it with The River imo.
Definitely a great concert band and without CC he is not the same.
Still, it is an acquired taste.
TL/DR I like Bruce but have not listened to his stuff in years.

Like later, when josephg® says how much Axle Rose sucks as a singer, I can actually agree with that. His tone quality is terrible, and he just screams a lot.

Not sure how many artists stay relevent for long.

Most artists best work is their first album, or first few albums. To have your first 4-5 albums be considered worth a #### is a long career and a lifetime of relevence. Artists that carry on past that put out a diminished product and are largely proped up by their earlier work.
I'm sure there are exceptions, but I can't think of any.

99.99% sell out, then die out.

The trick is to age gracefully. That's more of an art than the music really. The band/musician who is just happy doing their thing usually survive the longest. Most get famous, rich, change their music, then die out. Rolling Stones and Grateful Dead come to mind as bands that had true staying power. Jimmy Buffett is another example. Madonna is another.
Your best bet is to be content sticking to your roots, not chasing the fame and dollars, and touring forever. Those things keep bands/musicians relevant.

He'd put his name on anything, if there was a penny in it. Flip Flops, coolers, blenders, 4000 different kinds of koozies, hats, shorts, fishing rods, lures, casinos, hotel rooms...you name it, he sold out to it.
Good for him.
