What protocols can we expect at DV this year?

Aug 21, 2020, 9:03 AM

Rapid-fire, off the top of my head list - here are some I can think of. Add to it as you please.

1) No storming the field/meet at the Paw after
2) No Tiger Walk to stadium
3) Minimum or no tailgating
4) Empty Hill or possibly "Family Circles"....not the comic strip but zones socially distanced by households
5) No fans at the gate at the Rock
6) Extra wide berth/barriers on Hill keeping fans distanced from players
7) No fresh/cooked concessions - only commercially packaged items

Anyone that coughs or sneezes gets punched in the face.

There are thousands and thousands of Americans who can’t find this virus very funny,

I agree - I want to see us play football games in DV.......

this fall but the rest of the normal football gameday stuff doesn't matter at all IMO given the seriousness of the COVID-19 problem. We'll just be lucky if football IS able to be played.

Yep.I've seen a lot of people say "...but we NEED". Full disclosure - we don't NEED any of this. After 6 mths of nothing but Nascar and golf, I'll take live CFB on TV. I'm not going to sacrifice the whole shooting match if we can't Fill the Hill or Tiger Walk or Shake the Southland etc. Just gimme something.

Another protocol - obvious one - that I omitted is the socially distanced, limited capacity fan attendance. Probably in the 15k-20k range, I'm guessing.

Agree. The players "need" this more than we do. I am very cool with CFB in empty stadiums on TV if that is what is safe. I think the B10 and PAC12 jumped the gun. There is certainly something between full stadiums and outright cancellation. I am glad the other conferences have the option of exploring that space.

Good question. All of these are up for discussion and debate. I made the assumption on the food based on some things I had heard about theaters trying to reopen - could they still do popcorn and other select cooked food? I think it has to do with lack of local/state governance on those venues. In Clemson case it would be SC DHEC - does DHEC inspect the canteens with the same protocols as restaurants? I don't have the answer. Its purely speculative at this point but valid question - thanks for bringing it up.
