Every year now there is a hurricane

Sep 1, 2019, 10:43 PM

That causes games to either be cancelled or a close decision. Has it always been this way any I just never noticed?

No, it wasn’t always this way. In fact, it really began growing with a greater incidence just a little over a decade ago. It seems to have begun gaining frequency with the advent of the SEC Network and became increasingly more regular as they added more & more SEC homers and conference gasbags to the eSECpn staff of commentators & analysts. It seems to be peaking now and pushing the limits of global warming, so...enter the ACCN, in hopes of bringing “climate control” to the CFB landscape and averting the disastrous effects of the huge amounts of “hot air” the fans of college football have been subjected to.
We can only hope it’s not too late!

First time I remember was 1988 when Bill Curry did not want to take Alabama to Texas A&M before Hurricane Gilbert. He caught a rash of &$@? for it so I’m guessing it was pretty rare at the time. Of course now they stop games for hours when it Lightnings in a neighboring state.

Every year now there is a hurricane - If you think it’s bad in Greenville

you should try down here in Charleston! Seems like every year there are SEVERAL hurricanes!

BTW, hard to believe it’s coming up on the 30th(!!) anniversary of Hurricane Hugo.

Dang - I had to evac MB during Hugo. Ruined one of my rare vacations.

I expect relatives to show up this week from the Charleston area as I'm hearing that their county is under a mandatory evac. I might be wrong as I only heard this info.

I-26 reversal at I-526 & 26 starting at noon Monday.

Wife worked at Roper Hospital in 1989 and their policy was “If you don’t stay at the hospital, don’t bother coming back!” I stayed with her (I worked at “the yard”) at Roper and helped babysit the employee’s children. Some real war stories of Hugo!
