Do you think Dabo & Clemson Football will win 2 more Natties in next 10 years?

Feb 19, 2020, 11:45 PM

Doesn’t sound like a lot but remember there’s about 125 other teams out there vying for the trophy..

and realistically only about 15-20 of them actually have a fighting chance to pull it off..and when all’s said & done it’s really just 10-12 teams capable of winning..

which means Clemson winning 2 of next 10 is a high percentage.

What say you?

I'll take the over

Trevor is getting one this coming season. He won't be denied.

DJ may get 2 also.

I guarantee that we'll be in the mix for the next 4. After that, I don't really see any downturn in recruiting to stop this train.

Here's a corollary question

If TL doesn't get his second Natty this year, will he come back for 2021 ??

Dabo has certainly put the program in a position to accomplish that goal. Everyone team will be gunning for the Tigers as usual. Opponents will be hyped and we will get their best efforts of the year from each one. Staying healthy will be important and over coming those games when things are not going your way will be crucial. Huge bulls eye will on the back of the Tigers for years to come.

As I see it, ACC really at current status has zero contenders beyond Clemson. It's very hard to keep the pcs together and Dabo is the best. I think if we keep BV, we have better chances to repeat as I truly feel the Offense is easier to coach if you have the players and good QB. One player doesn't make Def like Off, it really is more difficult to have back to back top 5 def.

Point being, if LSU had Bentley for their qb this yr, do they win Natty? If LSU had Franks, do they win Natty? A great QB, good skills, and a top 10 def potentially wins every year.

We have top QBs for at least 3-4yrs and hopefully we continue the trend along with top 10 Def. Our next 4 seasons will have best chance to win Natties in history of our program as Bama has lost ground and others haven't reached the Pinnacle besides maybe Dabo?

Go Tigers!

I see it as a reachable goal for sure. One thing I don't want to happen and you saw some of it last year, is trying to compare us to a UCF because of a weak schedule in the ACC. Expectations seem to be coming to if Clemson can't win it all they don't deserve to be there in the first place. Not only is this not fair but unrealistic. Hopefully some power teams in ACC will get back in shape and playing Georgia in 21 will be awesome as well. In Lakeland Florida theses days and super excited to see Bowman as a tiger. Definitely feel it's a yes for 2 within next 10.

I think Dabo will break Bear Bryant's record before Saban does, and that means Saban won't win another National Championship. You heard it here first. :)

Feb 20, 2020, 9:19 AM

It’s tough to say. If U were to bet I’d predict we play in 3-4 more. Remember, in the 2000s decade Ohio State and Oklahoma both played in a bunch of championship games and Ohio State lost in them all. I believe Oklahoma won their championship in 2000. So if we can win 2 more each decade (2010; 2020) then that would be fantastic. We have been spoiled. It’s really really hard to even get to the NC game.

Radical recruiting change is implemented, the rich will only get richer. The players today actually do more of the recruiting than the other way around, in my estimation. The uber-talented players want title opportunities, unless they've grown up as very strong legacy followers.

Then there are the uber-talented players who also are strong of character, who follow their own path...aka: no posse. They seek the 'holistic' environment in their college choice...very selective.

Couple 'selectivity' by players with the 'selectivity' of the current Clemson approach, and that is a very strong LINK. Other programs simply lack, in the present day, the ability to 'walk the talk' of culture and character. Dabo has set the standard for the coming years. Will there be another coach out there capable of transforming the narrative. Wouldn't bet against it. But...in this day and age, Dabo has displayed a remarkable ability to marry the 'values of the past' in a way that resonates with the players of today within the social media environment. Technology and true feelings...not an easy thing to effectively link...but that's what Clemson has right now.

Re: Do you think Dabo & Clemson Football will win 2 more Natties in next 10 years?

Feb 20, 2020, 9:54 AM

I do not want to call a no-hitter in the bottom of the eighth, but one thing we have been very, very, very fortunate of over this last decade was injuries. From what I recall, we have had some injuries. DW's ACL, Mackenzie Alexander in the Natty, Shaq Lawson was limited in the Natty but that allowed CF to shine, Big Dex missing the Natty, Nyles in this years natty and losing Skalski in this years natty. That is a long list, but we have been very fortunate avoiding injuries and I pray that continues. It takes a lot of stars to align to win a natty. Two natty's over the next ten years seems very realistic to me as long as recruiting, our coaching staff, luck with injuries, etc.... But, that can change in a second. So let's enjoy the ride we have been on, focus on the next opponent, and embrace Dabo's of culture of love caring more about the person than the football player. That is why parents send their kids to Clemson. At some point, USC will beat us, at some point Dabo will leave Clemson, and at some point, a Gator bowl will be a good year. Most of us on here remember the Hatfield, West, Bowden years and statistically, that is where most teams are most of the time. At some point, we will be back there. Remember Bama lost to southern miss at home under Saban in 2007 the year before they beat us in the opener. Regardless of the record on the field, we need to be proud to be Clemson grads and enjoy this ride. Go Tigers !!!

Re: Do you think Dabo & Clemson Football will win 2 more Natties in next 10 years?

Feb 20, 2020, 10:04 AM

But depth limits the effects of injuries, and we are recruiting at such a higher level now that 3 or greater years ago... Reading the depth chart at RB (7 scholarships with ETN, Jlynn, reacher, dukes, molluski, bowman, one other freshman) is amazing. 7 out of 85 scholarships is 8.2% in a position that is 1 or 2 out of 24 (11 offense, 11 defense, 2 ST with a punter, kicker/FG) at 0.42%. I would love everyone to stay, but I don't see that happening after spring. Especially if this transfer rule takes effect this season.

How many times in the next ten years do you think that Clemson will be in the CFP ??

I would put that over/under at 8.5

If we are in eight playoffs, I think the over/under for Nattys should be 3.5

Whadda y'all think ??

I believe the O/U has to be four. We have the best QB's for the next four years, The best Defensive front for the next 4. I see us getting to the Natty every year for the next 8 and winning 50% of those.

I Think 3 is realistic in 10 years the way Dabo is doing things. One thing that could change somethings is the players compensation and will big recruiting go towards bigger markets so they make more off of more sales.

Time waits for no one and no team. Clemson has the horses and the QB to compete for the title now.

The team is loaded. The recruits have never been more talented.

Four years, eight years and ten years from now cannot be predicted.

Go Tigers!

Re: Do you think Dabo & Clemson Football will win 2 more Natties in next 10 years?

Feb 21, 2020, 11:21 PM

The potential is there to win several more, but remember it is still a game of inches and anything can happen. I think we may see one last offensive from Saban and Bama over the next few years. I expect LSU to miss the CFP this season and Auburn is too up and down. If UF avoids injuries as they build some depth; the Gators could be a player this season and beyond (beating UGA is a must for UF).

O-4 State is not going away, Oklahoma may still rule the Big 12 unless Texas steps up. Oregon could make some noise too.

I like Clemson's chances as Dabo and Co continue to be proactive in making a great team better.
