The thing is, religion isn't a joke. Travis Blanks' tweet was terrific and instead of praising it, Amanda ridiculed him and his religion. That's not funny. It's sad.

What is sad is your sense of humor. Fundamentalism will

slowly kill that. Jesus becomes exactly what Travis is talking about with college football. Taken way, way, way too seriously by people that don't quite understand not everyone is on the Jesus train and its a big o' world out there with different ways of going through it treating your fellow man and woman correctly.

Very well said. I'm not religious whatsoever, but respect religious people who respect exactly what you just said: the fact that we're not all in the same boat with our beliefs.
If people respect that, I think they'll be much happier.

But they believe their entire purpose on Earth is to get you

into that boat.......kicking, screaming, or dragging you in or they have failed their Master. The thing is I never get the feeling these folks are real concerned with my life, but just primarily my death, which is not really a great time to start to be friends or get a relationship started because you see, I'm about to be dead. My Dad had a ####### old friend of his from high school and beyond that he hadn't talked to in years show up on what was to be his deathbed with only one reason for being there. "Have you got yourself right with Jesus?" Hadn't spoken to him in years, not the least bit concerned about my Dad. He was a guy doing his church function moving and shaking after being a drunk for years and possibly burning his house down to collect insurance money, and now he had the fire in him and wants everyone else to join him. My dad told him to GTFO. He was probably looking to see if my Dad was leaving any money to a church. I notice they like to show up around people's deathbeds. Rock Springs (the Repentagon/BiLo Center) in Easley showed up out of nowhere for my Grandfather in his last days, hadn't been concerned about him in years, looking for that "donations can be made to the Rock Springs Building Fund" money whenever he passed. Scumbags. Rant over.

Yea it's really unfortunate that so many doing "the work of God" have such selfish ulterior motives. It seems like the ones who are converted later in life are always the worst when it comes to this. The common case is they were addicted to drugs or are a hardore alcoholic, and have been convinced that they need to make up for all the things they've done in the past. Therefore they're ruthless when it comes to "spreading the word of God". It's kind of sad to see in my opinion. They're so desperate and scared of what's waiting on the other side, and they've been told so many times by their new "friends" about the fire and brimstone that awaits them.
However it's obviously not the case with many or even most people who are religious. Some of my best friends from Clemson were very religious, and that's totally fine with me. I don't care if you're Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Jewish, etc...just don't be a jerk and push your beliefs on me, and I won't do the same to you.

what happens on the other side that they to me BECOME scary. "Woo hoo, can't wait till I die! Get me out of this horrible world! Going to see my Savior! Woo hoo!" Okay...just let the rest of us be and enjoy life here on Earth while we still have control over our bowels.

Are you serious?
What about her post was ridiculing him or his religion? Absolutely nothing. I suggest growing some thicker skin.
Even if you're very religious, you should be able to laugh about religion--even your own.

To Mr TRAVIS BLANKS
If you never played another down of football in your life, you are a success and more of a man than many will ever be. Following the LORD and savior of the world JESUS CHRIST, in today's world takes guts. Because of the liberal rampant views and the media in general. I commend you young man. Run the race, fight the fight, and keep the faith!!!! You will NEVER regret it!!!!!!
You chose a good school in which to do just that

I agree. I was completely on board and then he started on a mini liberal bashing and lost me. Regardless, my respect for young Mr. Blanks grew quite a bit today. My respect for the public in general didn't.

When I mentioned liberal media, I was immediately attacked. Is this the "tolerance" that is spoken of these days? My comment is an old adage that when you throw a rock into a group of dogs " it's a hit dog that hollers"
It appears I may have hit a couple. This is the intolerance and bigotry that makes it tough for these fine young men to follow their beliefs. If we do what you "TOLERANCE THUMPERS" want then you are more than happy to be tolerant
Selective tolerance or double standard??

can use your dog adage all you like, but what you are doing is mentioning something that you know people jump on as being a ridiculous excuse for everything, in this case, the ole liberal media bias, and then act like its all on the person responding as having a problem. It isn't a very sophisticated game you are playing there, bub.

Spoke what I believe to be true. That's all nothing else. Go back and read it. All I said is that there's things that makes it tough for young people to be themselves. Then the attack came. My view isn't view. Just like your story is your story. I can't dispute your story nor would I try
If you get baited so easily then I can't help that and I'm not responsible for it either.
