I'm sure he has spoken with the team about it.

Nov 25, 2012, 5:51 PM

He owes you nothing.

I'll tell him I won't watch it on TV next year if he doesn't explain it.

Spurrier would have tried a trick play or something, not simply QUIT.

Owes nothing???
$75 each for tickets, "all in" - there early, loud...blah blah blah. Dabo doesn't mind asking of the fans.
I NEVER leave a game early, but when the coach surrendered by punting I left. Losing by 17 rather than 10 would have been better than quitting.
Yes, he should explain and apologize.
A terribly coached loss!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What's to explain...

Nov 25, 2012, 5:51 PM

Losing by 10 sounds better than 17 when making the summer glad handing tour.
Watch how many people call losing by ten an improvement from the previous games...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'll explain.

Nov 25, 2012, 5:51 PM

Clowney would've ripped Boyd's head off and they would've scored another TD. Wasn't it like 4th and 15 or something...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly

Nov 25, 2012, 5:56 PM

I felt we had to punt in that situation.

Gave up a big sack on 1st down and then Boyd was running for his life the next two. Still had 3 timeouts and a chance to get the ball back with a stop on D.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why not try to win

Nov 25, 2012, 9:53 PM [ in reply to I'll explain. ]

We had a 3 and long play dialed up the play before that Nuke dropped.

Our defensive play in the 2d half should not have given anyone any confidence that we would get a stop.

It looked like the thought was. We can't afford to turn the ball over this deep.

The game was over when the ball was punted. At least take a chance

I quit!

I didn't see this post but I totally just posted a topic about Clock Management........major point. We should never have punted on fourth down with 4 mins and change on the clock......we were only down by 10 points.

Re: Dabo needs to explain 4th down punt or be fired.

Nov 25, 2012, 6:13 PM

I disagree. There are many things to explain...poor play calling by Morris, unusual drops by Nuk and Sammy, DB's who can't catch, lack of sound game plan incorporating Sammy, abandonment of the run too early, but...in that down and distance and field position you don't go for it. IF it were 4th and 5 or less perhaps. Not many play call sheets have a 4th and 15 on your own 25 play ready to dial up.I didn't see that as a "quit" call at all. Furthermore...say what you want about Dabo... quitter is not a word you could ever use to describe him.

Trying to keep it close

Makes we want to puke.

I'll call him a quitter NOW.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dude, that's quitting. He quit trying to win the game

Nov 25, 2012, 10:07 PM [ in reply to Re: Dabo needs to explain 4th down punt or be fired. ]

when the game was still winnable. Not LIKELY that we would win, absolutely not, but it was possible. Especially with our offense.

He quit.

It's better to lose trying to win than to quit. That punt was quitting. We needed two scores, not one score.

I like Dabo and the gang, but I have to admit I was disappointed to see us punt here. With Sammy and Nuke on the field, anything can happen and happen quickly. Get a quick 6, kick on onsides kick and see what happens. Oh well, guess we will never know.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yup. Total quitter move. Actually reminded me of a few

Nov 26, 2012, 9:43 AM

years ago when I was watching the Gamecawks play, and down 28 or so with 3 minutes left, Spurrier kicked a field goal.

There was nothing, NOTHING that our Defense had shown all night that indicated we would get the ball back with enough time left to score 10 after punting it away.

It was a complete and total chickensh## move.
