No coach has ever attempted a 61 yrd FG? If it would have been just blocked but no scoop and score, we wouldn’t be discussing this at all! Yes there was rain, yes there was wind and yes the previous kick had been blocked. I take Dabo’s word for it if he observes it every single day in practice in all elements. If you see it in practice every day and you thing it is the better option between a FG or a Hail Mary based on what you see in practice, you’d make the call too! What would have made people more upset is if we threw a Hail Mary and had ETN, Rodgers, Ladsen or another receiver come down injured. It happens all the time with the deep throws.

Dabo knows more about football than anyone on this board and certainly way more than me. However, up 18 with just seconds to go, why take the risk? The risk/reward benefit was not there. Fortunately it just didn't matter as Miami is not in our class.

Coach owned it immediately! He didn't throw anyone but himself under the bus; so "it's over with"! I agree with you - people need to let that one go. As many right decisions as he has made in building Clemson to where it is now - he is not to be burned at the stake for one bad one!
