9 - 3 / 1/3 + 1 = ??

or

nine minus three divided by one-third plus one equals ??

I doubt any coots attempt this, but maybe this will make them leave.

The answer is 1 and would be much easier if stated as 9-(3 / 1/3) + 1 or basically 9-9+1=1

You are correct though, it would challenge all but the top USuC engineering students.

I'm sure you know it being a maths guy and all

Identity:
a=b
Multiply both sides by a:
a^2=ab
Subtract b^2 from both sides
a^2-b^2=ab-b^2
Factor
(a+b)(a-b)=b(a-b)
Cancel a-b from both sides
a+b=b
Since a=b
b+b=b
2b=b
Divide by b
2=1

Coots can't get by 8th grade math so they won't get it
