Clemson vs. Stony Brook game two thread

Posted: Feb 22, 2020, 3:24 PM

Sorry I am a little late. We have the 16-month old at the game today and he was enjoying running around. We are in the top of the second, no score

Davis Sharpe breezes through the top of the second. No score.

Chad Fairey drives one to the wall in left center, but it's a loud out and the Tigers go in order. 0-0 E2

Sharpe allows a runner but gets out of further trouble, one runner left one base, we head to the bottom of the third with no score

Nothing doing for the Tigers in the third. Nobody has scored since the second inning of yesterday's game, so if you like pitching, this is your kind of series. If you like offense, not so much

Nothing doing for the Sea Wolves in the fourth. Still scoreless.

Sharpe with the bare hand . . .

and throw to get the second out on a drag hunt attempt . . . Made it look much easier than it was!!!

Time to get a hit and plate a couple!!!

Clemson wastes another leadoff double. Tigers have scored 17 runs in what I think are 44 innings this season, no more than two runs in any inning. 0-0 heading to the 5th

It’s a struggle at the plate

Sharpe continues to hold the Sea Wolves in check. We had to the bottom of the 5th with no score.

Hall reaches on a base bit, but a batter's interference on Hall's stolen base attempt ends the frame. 0-0 heading to the sixth

That was a bullshiz call on the interference. Monte should’ve gotten tossed over that one but instead tail tucked into the dugout ??

It was def a chit call

He was actually pretty upset. He engaged the ump, I could hear his protests from the outfield.

Phantom call on Starbuck for batter interference . . .

Posted: Feb 22, 2020, 4:30 PM

when Hall stole second . . . was it because he kept the bat upright???

He didn't move . . . He didn't lean in . . . the only thing he did was keep his bat upright . . . Monte was pizzzzzzed

He actually moved the bat back in front of the plate and in front of the catcher. I don’t know the rule well enough but think it may have been the correct call. Regardless - he knows his guy is going and he needs to make sure any move is down and/or away. Look like he was trying to give help to his guy that he didn’t need and got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Davis continues his good work..he's given up five hits and walked none while striking out six. We head to the bottom of the 6th with no score

Henderson draws a 1-out walk, takes second on a wild pitch. Hack has a 3-1 count

Hackenberg walks, runners at first and second with one out. Trip to the mound for the Sea Wolves

Majkowski too aggressive and strikes out, Fairey a weak grounder to second ends the threat. Clemson now scoreless in 12 straight innings, Sea Wolves have yet to score in the series

We sure are wasting our chances. Thankfully, so are they.

Keyshawn Askew now on to pitch for Sharpe, who was sharp. FIve hits, no runs, no walks and 6 strikeouts

A single and a walk, and the Sea Wolves have runners at second and third with two out in the top of the 7th. Askew is relieved by Reed

Reed gets the strikeout on a 93-mph fastball. We stretch here at Tiger Fiel and, as you know, no score.

Hawkins was out as he tried to tag and score!

Hawk's lead foot was there in time but was airborne and never touched the plate!!!

Reed's pitch goes 45 feet and bounces and he doubles over in pain. He is immediately removed from the game. That didn't look good

Hoffman comes in and the Sea Wolves can't score. We had to the bottom of the 8th with no score

Clemson swinging very early in the count, not working the count, with little results. Another leadoff batter goes to waste, and Clemson hasn't scored in 14 innings.

The three hitters due up for Clemson in the bottom of the ninth are a combined 1-for-28 this season.

Literally no score to insert. Tigers have 2 hits vs the mighty powerhouse 1-5 Stony Brook

Although the stat line would suggest good pitching, the hitting has been the issue. SB pitching not that great lol

Yep SB will probably win the CWS this year.
They are THAT good

My bad. Prior to Hood's reply just before mine didn't notice it was indicated in the commentary. Trying to do taxes as well and not reading too carefully.

Hawkins with a one-out walk. Brewer up next.

Tigers get the one-out runner, but bounce into the inning-ending double play and now it's free baseball.

Henderson delivers a single over second and the game is over....Tigers win 1-0.
