Clemson AP poll vs CFP

2014 was the first year the CFP poll came out this early in the season.,..

Quick guess - how many times was Clemson lower in the CFP vs AP on those first CFP polls...

Zero -

The CFP typically places us higher or at least equivalent to the AP....

Turns out the folks on the committee generally respect us more than the AP

Shocker (sarcasm) former coaches and current ADs actually know more about football than writers...

2015 2016 2017 we moved up vs AP

2018 we stayed the same vs AP

2015 Week 9 Polls out on Nov 1
AP top 6 in order Ohio St, Baylor, Clemson, LSU, TCU, Michigan St
Coaches had Ohio St, Baylor, TCU, LSU, Clemson, Michigan St

Then the CFP poll comes out on Nov 3 and they have it as Clemson, LSU, Ohio St, Alabama, Notre Dame, Baylor.

What makes things interesting is the next week in the AP poll, Clemson jumped to #1 over Baylor and Ohio State, despite those 2 teams winning that week.

Basically, it just shows that the AP poll just follows whatever the big story is and votes to coincide with that.

The coaches poll at least only pushed us up to #2 after the CFP rankings, but our #1 votes did go up from 2 to 21 in that week.

The people on the committee know their decisions will be scrutinized and therefore they needs facts to back up their decisions. The sports media is just a big circle jerk where they all tell each other that they are right. When you live in that kind of echo chamber, you start to believe your own BS.
