Buck nut whining about the targeting call

Dec 29, 2019, 3:26 AM

As stated in the NCAA for the 2019 season, "defender lowers his head and uses the crown of his helmet to attack with forcible contact". Absolutely NOTHING to do with the ball carrier, it's the defender. Whether you agree or disagree is irrelevant, that is the actual rule. Just because OSU fans don't understand the rule does not mean it is incorrect. Also, ALL targeting calls are reviewed in the both and must be either confirmed or be reversed. They CANNOT be called as "stands", meaning evidence must be available to prove the targeting. Also at the 4:01 mark below, "crown of the helmet targeting foul no matter where the contact was made".

Straight from the NCAA rules.

EDIT: time stamp did not start at the correct spot but go to 3:56 and 4:01 for the live example described by the head of officials.

I'm ok with the call. I don't think he meant to do it that way.

I don't think he did on purpose either, but intent has nothing to do in the determination of the call.

His arms for the tackle were way behind the helmet, which is kinda what I use as an indicator.
