Biggest mistake the coots make is thinking they're one

person away from being a contender. It's a foundational problem, not a coaching problem. But let them keep thinking they're one "Dabo" away from being right there with Clemson.

The HC is the key piece. Granted you need admin's support, but getting the right guy at the top drives the needed changes below.

The numb nuts on FGF still believe Dabo is only a manager and cheerleader. There is a whole thread thinking Baby Beamer can be the same type of coach with the same type of success as Dabo because Dabo is really not that sharp. They just need to hire great coordinators like Dabo to handle the actual football aspects of the job.
They will never learn...

There is a very good reason why they are widely regarded as the most ignorant and deluded fan base in existence.

Their biggest problem is themselves. They think they are relevant in football for some reason. Whoever they hire, next year will be as bad as this year. Transfer portals and decootments will leave them high and dry for several years.

Your right and they need more than one coach. I firmly

believe we needed Tommy Bowden before we needed Dabo. Tommy might have fell well short in coaching on the field but his vision and working with the admin in changing the football program set up a great coach like Dabo to take it where it needed to be.

I had a neighbor once, that was a big gamecock guy. He and his sons would go to every home game and any away game that wasn't to far up the road. He was a life long follower of the chickens. At about the time when The Tigers were enjoying success under Danny Ford, and they were having some good teams under Morrison, we were talking about the good years both teams were having. He told me; that usc would never be like Clemson. He said they might have a run of good teams, might win ten, or maybe one day eleven games, but their success would never be sustained. He said; Clemson was the opposite. He said; they might be down for a while, but they will get back up and be strong again, and they will definitely win more than they lose. He said; that he didn't know why, but that's the way it has always been and more than likely would always be. My friend has long since passed away, but his prophecy is still pretty accurate.

They're biggest problem right now is that they have nowhere

to really recruit. They will occasionally get some really good players in SC, but Clemson is going to get their pick of SC talent the majority of the time. They aren't going to make hay in GA right now trying to recruit against UGA, Clemson, Bama, Auburn, etc. And now Mac Brown is back at UNC and doing a really good job recruiting in that state so it's going to be much more difficult to poach talent out of NC for awhile.
Right now, just being a "contender" means getting on the same level as Georgia and Florida, and that is going to require some elite talent. Where is it going to come from? I'm just not seeing it. A more realistic goal would be getting back ahead of Kentucky, Missouri, and maybe Tennessee.

There are too many other better options throughout the southeast compared to uof6c (academically and athletically).
The few good in-state players they do land are typically from families who are lifelong fans.
