Basketball- Dawes

what is up there? I think a few weeks ago he was a little dinged up and slowed by that. But suddenly his minutes and production seem down. Not as much of a factor when he is in. Is that still the case or just a pt shift due to approach. Fortunately Honor ahs been playing very well

Yeah unfortunate year for dawes. I think lack of production this year definitely has to do with honor. He has still performed well, but he hasn’t seemed to get into a groove yet.
Selfishly I kind of hope trapp leaves after this year but I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back. Dawes and honor starting and getting the bulk of minutes would be deadly. Although we probably couldn’t do that against bigger guards.

Wish he would get more playing time

A few weeks ago, coach was bragging about what a great on the ball defender. If healthy, I would like to see him pair up more with Honor, who is playing lights out. Also, like to see Tyson get more playing time, if rebounds and pts were counted per minute of playing time, he would be among the top producers. At same time, I am very impressed at all the depth.

I'm glad you brought this up. There were games last year where Dawes just took over the game. Somehow I think there's a chemistry issue or he's just lost confidence due to reduced playing time.

The FSU game last year was insane. He completely took that game over.

He has been dealing with a groin injury for a few weeks.

That, coupled with Honor playing well lately, has cut into Dawes's minutes some.
He's recovering and will be fine though. He's a gamer. He will win a game for us before this season's over.

He finished last year pretty strong, but he's been a non-factor this year with others looking to pass him even further next year.

I agree, I expected him to be a starter or at least

a sixth man this year. I thought he could easily be a 10-12 point per game scorer for us, with improved three point shooting this year. I don't know if his knee injuries and concussion have impacted him, or if he is simply being beaten by better players, but I'm surprised he hasn't had a better year this year.
Hopefully he will get his confidence back soon.

Does Honor have another year of eligibility?

I assume with Trapp graduating

there would be an opportunity for both Dawes and Honor to be the starters in the backcourt and get most of the minutes. I'm not sure where that would leave Newman or Hemenway, unless those two would split time at the wing position. That would be very small lineup though.

Maybe Hemenway could be a nice sixth man and still get plenty of minutes?
