Are we losing this SC home game?

Aug 25, 2020, 11:15 AM

When play resumes with SC do you think we'll play in the upstate?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, we'll lose it.

Aug 25, 2020, 11:36 AM

Florida State is away this year. They don't want them the same.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think we need to let this go.

Aug 25, 2020, 11:39 AM

If we try and change next year's game to a home game, that will mess up the flow of schedule that we have with our other OOC P5 game. The idea has always been that we play a major OOC team at home the year we play at UofSC. We don't want to have a situation where we have 6 home games and then 8 home games the following year. The current setup is 7 home games each year. I know 2021 will be odd with the neutral site game against UGA, but otherwise, that setup holds.

We just need to be thankful that we have some games this year. We could be like Ohio State and have nothing to look forward to sports wise.

The Shamecocks had it at Home every year for 60 Years

Aug 25, 2020, 11:50 AM

I would not let it go! CUhad nothing to do with the cancellation of this game. If the Chickens do not want to acquiesce to what is right, then DRad should cancel next years game. “Giving In” never works!

should go ahead and plan to play in charlotte in 2021***

That is a very good idea.

Clemson is opening with Georgia in Charlotte.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I like the concept, but would rather keep the $ in SC

Aug 25, 2020, 2:33 PM [ in reply to should go ahead and plan to play in charlotte in 2021*** ]

But I agree that it would be hard to find another neutral site in SC large enough

Clemson Football, the glory days are here!

If Bristol Motor Speedway can host a football game in its infield, maybe Darlington can too? That would keep $$$ in SC, neutral site, and it's less than an hour from my house. <img border=">

Re: I like the concept, but would rather keep the $ in SC

Bristol is a shorter track though. Darlington is nearly a mile longer than Bristol so it would most likely be harder to make it work with seating and such.

In terms of the whole neutral site thing. This could be done while still playing the game in Columbia. They could just divide up ticket allotment the same as they would for a neutral game and share the revenue. I'm sure this won't be done, but if they were going to entertain the neutral site thing that would be one way to do it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's a lose-lose situation

Aug 25, 2020, 2:36 PM

We either lose a home game with SC or we screw up our schedule pretty badly for the next ~15 years.

I think a neutral site game would stink too, but it might be the best of a bunch of bad solutions.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

uof6c will NEVER AGREE to play at Clemson in 2021

Aug 25, 2020, 3:12 PM

They are under the delusion that playing in the dead Cockroach gives them some kind of advantage.

In reality, Clemson has better winning percentage playing there that the home team has.

Barring something totally unforeseen, it may realistically be another ten years before the Capons are in any kind of position to beat Clemson no matter where the games are played. Maybe longer.

While their recruiting has improved slightly, the gap is not narrowing. If anything, it getting wider.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

They should compromise neutral site game in CLT or CHS***

Back to Back. Same with Louisville and NCState next year when ACC returns to division play next year since we don't play them this year. Stupid ACC should have maintained division play this year as much as possible. Swoffie pee'd in the wind to please Notre Dame.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep, if we play next year, it will be a road game...Two

conferences aren't going to screw up their rotations and juggle schedules just to get our home game back

Re: Are we losing this SC home game?

Aug 25, 2020, 9:13 PM

Why can't SC just give the SEC a middle finger and say, "screw you we're playing an 11th game against a non-conference opponent." Would they be put on probation or something if they did?

Re: Are we losing this SC home game?

The 2021 should be cancelled and the series should be restarted in Clemson in 2022. That would preserve the current rotation of the series and each school would miss hosting one game. Clemson could schedule another Power 5 team to start a two game series.

Let's play it in Arizona, because... well... It would be convenient and fun for me
