Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Jun 17, 2019, 7:57 AM

Friday night, happy hour at Community Tap, forgot that my car wasn't at home. Good think their last call is early.

Saturday. Super lazy day, the went to do some shopping and to see Dead Don't Die. I liked it.

Sunday, finally made some real progress on the unpacking and rearranging stuff at the house. Apparently I lost some pegs from the big book case so that is an issue now. Also finally made my pita bread sloppy joes.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

mmmm, sloppy joes

Jun 17, 2019, 8:03 AM

Fri - yard work in the afternoon

Sat - Mcjr and I went down to dad's for some bream fishing. He didn't want to leave, made me proud

Sun - Church, dad's day celebration with the fam at our house. Grilled wings, pork chops, corn, etc....

Jun 17, 2019, 8:07 AM

Not as good as I would have liked.

Friday: had a crew of installers putting in new LTV flooring until 9:00. I was ready for them to be GONE. Floor looks good though.

Saturday: spent the day painting and trimming as I have been for several weekends (blah.) Saturday night, got kicked in the teeth by a virus. I was Ill as a ####. Had a massive headache to go along with it. Went to bed early.

Sunday: went to church. Didn't feel good all day. Was sluggish. Took 2 naps. Pretty much a waste of a weekend.

Friday: chilled at the house.

Saturday: drove to Spartanburg. Did chorus for dad. Went to lunch. Watched golf. Got back to Gangland around 11:00. Died tired.

Sunday: did some work around the house. Kids called to wish their old dad a Happy Father’s Day. Opened some presents. I’m truly blessed. Had lunch. Took nap. Watched golf.
Happy Gary Woodland won. Good guy.

11/10.

Welp, The Tigers didn't play but I didn't die.

Jun 17, 2019, 8:23 AM

Friday - grilled some shrimps and watched golf.

Sattidy - drove to the in-laws on the Edisto. Ate Dukes BBQ. GOt stuck watching old Westerns, cuz, older in-laws.

Sunday drove to Masion du Mer de Wilbur in Wild Dunes. Tried and gave up on Ron's or Poe's because Sully's is a disaster (BTW - Now not only is alcohol prohibited on the beach, but ALL plastic and stryofoam is too. And don't think about taking your dog out.) WOund up at The Shelter for crab dip, calamari and beers. Good stuff.

8.3/10 (-1.4 for bird size bugs on the Edisto)

Was discussing the alcohol laws in Chas. this weekend.

Jun 17, 2019, 8:51 AM

I don't remember seeing anybody get ticketed in the past few years, and I don't THINK cops will bother you if you have beer in a koozie or generic cup (apparently not plastic or styrofoam now), but that's a pretty big roll of the dice with a $1,040 fine behind it (or whatever the exact figure is) if they DO eff with you.

Personally, I wouldn't risk it on any beach. It'd probably be cheaper to get a fine for a one hitter than a beer on the beach.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We did the cups with booze on Folly and it seemed fine, but

Jun 17, 2019, 10:20 AM

there were 4 wheeler people riding around looking. They did not harass anyone that we saw. However, there appeared to be few people drinking. Saw one other pouring tallboys into a Yeti. I don't think I could go to the beach if we couldn't have any beverages while sitting. I mean, I could, but why tho?

Friday - got home from being on the road all week. Went to dinner with the wife and kids and chilled. Super simple and nice. The FJ broke down, thinking it electrical, so dealing with that today.

Saturday - swim lessons, running, grab new running shoes for myself and then shoes for the kids too. Super simple meal of grilled chicken and veggies.

Sunday - running, church and spent the whole day with wife and kids.

Monday - log into work, everyone and everything is fine, still tired and going back to bed to take a nap.

Jun 17, 2019, 8:31 AM

Friday: left work late, get home, get in a couple of miles, shower, and cannot sleep at all.

Saturday: slept in a bit, wife and I had a meal together to celebrate our anniversary. The rest of the day is NSFW.

Sunday: up for paternal parent day, got called into work (first time), ate lunch with the kids, go called into work (second time), came home, opened gifts, got called ito work (third time) realized there was no reason to go in. Called work around 9:30, was told everything is good now. Walked in this morning to a disaster.

You should drive for Uber in San Diego.

Jun 17, 2019, 9:21 AM [ in reply to It was OK, too worky ]

All three drivers we had last week reported that they made great money doing it there. One worked for Time Warner and took it up because he didn't know anyone in SD when they moved him there and said the money was so good he's still doing it 2 years later. The next guy moved to SD from up the Cali coast just to drive Uber because the money is so much better there. The guy that took us to the airport lives in Tijuana, crosses the border every day and collects his car from storage, then heads into SD and drives. Obviously, driving Uber in San Diego is the next boom industry for the US economy.

In spite of the fact that gas there is routinely hovering around $5 a gallon.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Everey Uber/Lyft driver I've spoken to seemingly forgets

Jun 17, 2019, 10:59 AM

that they are killing their car doing that gig. What happens when the car wears out in 3 years due to driving 40K a year? Can they buy another car on Uber wages alone? AND that they will owe the gubmint money at tax time because they are 1009'ers?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pretty good.

Jun 17, 2019, 8:36 AM

Friday finished work with a bang and got out 2 huge reports. Trimmed the trees up in the front of the house and hacked the mint back because it was about to bloom. Saturday dude came in the AM and fixed the 3 exhaust vents on the side of the house. Replaced cheep rotten plastic builder vents with aluminum ones. Didn't have to climb up 20 feet on a ladder. After that was done, went to lake swam and drank 5 Bud platty's, and ate watermelon (UNSALTED) and ate boiled peanuts. Ribs for supper. Back home.

Father's day visited with dad and took the whole crew. Then went on up to the lake again for more beer/boiled peanuts/watermelon and hydrosliding and tubing. Only had two light beers because had to drive home.

Drove to Charleston Friday, Taco Boy for dinner and then

Jun 17, 2019, 8:46 AM

a couple bars downtown, cannot remember exactly which ones.

Wake up at 5:15 to a text from our fishing captain that he had to cancel. Eff that noise, this is the second try as the last one was during death storm 2019. Both times we line up child care and something happens. He offers to find another captain, but we are 3 hours out from leaving and I aint trying to get on a sketchy boat with Captain Stabbin and loose my anul virginity (jklol).

Go for a run through downtown CHS near the Citadel and then we make lemons out of lemonade and go to Folly after breakfast at the marina. Drink beers, listen to music, no kids, get a little sun burn, leave around 3, shower, dinner, drive back to Rock Hill. Kids are terrible because been with wife's mom on Friday night. Sleeps.

Church, lunch, wife's grandad's house, home to pool. Kids are still being terrible so we kill the pool quickly, go home, clean a little, dinner, groceries, get kids in bed, sleeps...guess that was a nice Father's Day.

Up for work.

7/10 but could be better and certainly could be worse.

Jun 17, 2019, 8:47 AM

19She left with kids several hours before the buttcrack of dawn on Friday to fly out to AZ. Her mom was in the hospital this week with a laundry list of problems, including a collapsed lung, pneumonia, a bedsore that won't heal that caused sepsis, some other contagious highly contagious disease I can't remember the name of, dehydration, and some other things I'm forgetting. I think she might have deaded if her husband hadn't called 911, which is fortunate because he's not good at paying attention to stuff (like his health, or other peoples' health, for example). Anyway, that cost me $2K in last-minute 1 way tickets, but what a price for freedom. I still don't know why she took the kids. They probably would have been reasonably fine here with me.

Left Friday morning a few hours later for JAX to meet up with mom's 3 brothers--we get together every year since she passed. Had a great time. They're a fun crowd, albeit somewhat reserved being late 50's and 60's. Oldest brother, Fritz, will pound beers with me and my sis all day, and he also made some kickass ribs on Friday night and a good Lowcountry Boil (without potatoes, so I made him call it something else) on Saturday. Also, I always kinda wondered if there was a Charleston or SC law against wearing thongs on the beaches, but I never cared enough to look it up. There were thongs everywhere on JAX beach, some spectacular, some less so, but hey...I'll take a gander regardless. They don't exist at Sullivan's, so there must be a law. Got to stop by Manifest Distilling on Saturday--one of the owners is a Clemson guy who I know from another board but never met in person. Good dude, gave us a full tour and let us try all dey hooch. They make a barrel-aged gin that is bizarre and delicious. I'm a gin rookie--just learned to appreciate it in the past few years. I think Manifest just got clearance to distribute in SC, but it'll be a bit before it's actually on shelves. I grabbed a few bottles and some bitters and a hat.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-19b.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Saw a few thongs on Folly

Jun 17, 2019, 8:51 AM

One terrible one and 2-3 nice ones. Pointed them out to the wife and we debated thongs for a while...apparently alot of the new bikinis are cut for your butt to hang out, called cheekies and not actually a thong.

TIL...

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There is NO law agin 'em at Coronado Island.

Jun 17, 2019, 9:29 AM [ in reply to Purty decent. ]

A few spectacular California cheeks, but mostly moderately OK foreigners accompanied by greasy-looking gangster men. Still, enough for me to take the beach route to the conference hall every day instead of the short route cutting across the parking lot. The most impressive collection of females was definitely the cut-off jeans and cowboy boots girls at Moonshine Flats for the Pat Green show...especially when they got in the barber chairs they have for doing shots and did the chair version of pole dancing. Mrs. Tig didn't really want to stand there and ponder the cultural significance very long though.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Its actually a state law for wearing a thong

Jun 17, 2019, 9:37 AM [ in reply to Purty decent. ]

I thought i remembered wen IOP and Folly passed specific laws against them but I couldn't find anything in a .2 second google search.

Thursday: 6am flight to Detroit heading toward Vegas. Arrive in Vegas at about 9:15am. Hit In-N-Out and walk the strip with a pint of Jim Beam while we wait for the rest of the group to get there. We bounce around from casino to casino devouring liquor slushies, beers and liquor drinks. Made our way from the Venetian, to the Bellagio back to the Wynn where we were staying. Early night since I was up since 3am.

Friday: Hit the best buffet brunch on the strip at the Wynn. Had sushi, spring rolls, pork bao, pizza, all the breakfast essentials, chocolate mousse and key lime pie. Hit the pool and bounced around the tables and bar outside. The women there were below average, but a few of them knew what they were doing. Continued consuming every single drink option we could find. Went to Tao for dinner in the Venetian. Kind of underwhelming. Had a wasabi encrusted filet and some lo mein along with an Asahi and sushi. Made a couple bucks at the craps table before heading back to the Wynn so we could go to XS Nightclub to see the chainsmokers. Before they went on, Drake stepped on stage and introduced the entire 2019 World Champion Toronto Raptors. So we got to party with Kawhi and Kyle Lowry. Chainsmokers played until 4:00 and we hit up the Casino again before going to bed Saturday morning at 5:30.

Saturday: Hit up the same #### buffet cause once wasn't enough. Went back to the pool and drank as much as we could. Wandered between Casinos and tables and Fat Tuesdays like the white trash we are. Had In-N-Out again for lunch and started to wind down as the weekend was coming to a close and my buddy and I had to be at the airport at 4am Sunday morning.

Sunday: Flights back. Got back into Raleigh at 4pm and slept the rest of the day. I am still not quite recovered and feel like I left a part of me in Vegas.

A lot of smoking

Jun 17, 2019, 8:53 AM

Friday - smoked burgers for about 40 min, then seared em for 30s each side on the fire box. turned out awesome and will do again (usually only smoke for about 15-20 minutes while fire heats up, then cook normal on firebox side). Dawghater23 LPT: bake the bacon for your burgers, then toast the buns in the bacon grease. Watched end of US Open, #####, drank cold beer. 9/10

Sattidy - woke up again and did a cycle class at dawghater2she's club. yet again, tons of hawts since it's in Buckhead. no pigs b/c it was dark and i was w/ the wife. Came home and made my breakfast skillet, then laid by the pool. Smoked some ribs (tweaked the rub this time w/ a little brown sugar. need to dial that in, but I"m optimistic), made home made tater salad and cole slaw. After pool ##### w/ a little char for the win before the leaders teed off so I wouldn't disrupt my golf viewing. 9/10

Sunday - ate left overs breakfast skillet and played golf. single handedly the shittiest 18 holes I've played in recent memory. cooled off in the pool then came home and smoked some wangs and sausages. new wing methodology in the works - smoke for 2.5 hours, toss in sauce (lolz), then splash em in the deep frier. turned out great, but it was a lot of work for me and the wife. wood only dew again if making a smoker full for a party/tailgate type deal. watched Woody-land man close it out and couldn't be happier for him. end of weekend ##### to get the hat trick - 6.5/10 b/c of ###### golf round

A great weekend in the foreign country of California.

Jun 17, 2019, 9:05 AM

Thursday, worked half day in the hotel room then left explored all of Coronado Island. You can pretty much walk the whole thing, and we did. Back to the hotel for a quick rest, then out to grab a bite to eat and down to Coronado Brewing for a few beers and watched the end of the NBA season. Talked to a Navy officer that had just been stationed there after coming from London, pretty interesting. Met a young couple at the bar from Arizona, they noticed my Clemson swag and the girl told me her dad went to Clemson and they went to games when the could. The guy grew up in Arizona and raved about his experience there, said he was a big college football fan and had never seen anything like it growing up out west. Walked back to hotel and found a cafe where an open mic was going on and marveled at the talent on display. Far superior to anything I've checked out around here. B

Friday, left Coronado and checked into the Gaslamp Quarter. Phenomenal hotel, explored the area, walked around Petco Park (Padres were out of town), ate at a killer Thai restaurant, walked down to Moonshine Flats to see Pat Green play. Pat Green was amazing, he's noted for putting on great live shows and did not disappoint. Wandered back to the hotel and crashed.

Saturday, airport, plane, walked into the house just after 10:00 pm. Was totally wired and did all the laundry and put everything from the trip away. Finally hit the rack around 12:30.

Sunday, got up around 0:30, slugged a cup of coffee and ran to York to pick up the pup from Doggy Camp. We were both sluggish and laid around most of the day in the Big Chair while Mrs. Tig was the one that was wired and cleaned house around us all day. Finally mustered the energy to go to the grocery late afternoon, then Joonyer came over with dinner and we ate, hung out for a while, watched the pups play. He left around 8:30, flopped back in the Big Chair and watched Fear The Walking Dead, then crashed.

Hate I didn't go surfing last week, the hotel had wetsuits and boards, but it was NOT warm there, air or water. Minus airporthell/airplanehell (I HATE the flying experience, even though this was pretty routine) and extrapolating the rating system to Californianese, the weekend was a solid 'cowabunga, dude'.

Thursday, hit up Fireforge brewery w/ some frands...beer was very good (and Fireforge seems to think so, too, because $$$) Sat outside and enjoyed the frickin allsum weather (and some hot pretzels w/ pimento chz and a jalapeno cheddar hot dog)

Fri, work, and then more sitting out side and enjoying the frickin allsum weather, this time at Passarelle Bistro (the setting - outside and overlooking Falls Park - was the best part by a mile, food/service/drinks weren't bad by any means, just not enough on their own to make me want to rush to go back)...then across the skreet to Jianna and met up w/ frand & gf for more 'outdoor' bar & couple drinks. Had to leave at 10:30 to get kids...got home, and sat outside w/ wine & fireplace going, because 63° and frickin' allsum. Had sechses. NICE.

Sat, mostly garage clean-up (aka, drinkin beers in the garage watching some CWS and listening to Lithium while not getting much done at all) and some yardwork, then to the pool to shut the kids up. Somewhere in there, went to the butcher....learnt that the owner does NOT like to pack things up and put them away. Asked for some NY Skrip, he was in the process of vac packing up his last bit, and i just had him cut it into (2) ~1.5" pieces, about 20oz each. NICE. And I got 3lbs of fresh ground beef. BUT THEN, dude was like 'You got kids?' Said yeah, and he gave me (2) ribeye 'scraps' - aka, too thin to sell with any modicum of respekt, but perfect for kids....then he was like "You like beef ribs?". Well, sure....then threw in (2) racks. Thought he was done, and he was like "What about breakfast sausage?" and he threw in 1lb of ground sausage.
Mental Note: Go to butcher @ 5:50 on Saturdays.

Sun, Father's Day AF. Woke up w/ plans of heading out at 7am to a hike w/ the fam. That turned out to be more like 9am, after some HFD gifts and breakfast...Went up to Jones Gap, hiked a mile+ to Jones Gap Falls where short-legged kids got in (as did I) and played for a bit, then back down...

hit up Swamp Rabbit Brewery in TR for reward, beer was really good, kept it at two tho....got take-out from ShortField's next door and ate at the brewery....then across the street for some ice cream. Came home, and all i wanted to do was take a nap, but kids won out, and we went to the pool....where I had another beer, and took a nap. #Winning. Glad they didn't drown. Skipped dinner because late lunch, showered and zonked. Still haven't fully woken up

10/10 will do again next year.

Sorta typical

Friday-Was drinking beer with the neighbors and got a call to get on a conf call. Spent the next 3 hours doing something stupid for work, then just sat around and watched tv. The work thing kinda crushed my soul for the rest of the night because it was so stupid.

Saturday took the boat, wife, and dog to the sandbar behind Sullivan's Island and let the dog run around in the surf and waves for a little while. We got there late so the tide came up pretty quick, but it was enough to wear him out for a few hours. Later, we hung out with the neighbors and drunkenly shot some high end pellet gun in their back yard. I've found I have two true god given talents in this world: p!ssing people off when I'm not trying to, and shooting things. Maybe it's good to have one after the other? I dunno. Anyway, I easily destroyed the competition and the guy who owned the gun said he may not let me shoot anymore. It was fun nonetheless.

Sunday enjoyed-not-being-a-father's day and went to see Hans Wenzel play at The Southern. They must have all been sober because they were very good. Talked to their guitar player before they started and found out he went to Clemson and has season football tickets. Came home and ate chicken bog my wife made earlier, walked the dogs around the block, and went to bed.

I give it a 8/10 for the weekend, subtractions because work is a stupid head.

Got my boat back Friday from having a new cover made, went and put it in Friday evening. Wife ended up having to work late, so just piddled around on the boat for awhile and fished. Caught a decent sized catfish who ended up stabbing me in the hand.

Wife ended up having to go into work Saturday, so I was left alone yet again. Got on the boat at 8:30 in the morning and took about a 2 hour ride. Pretty awesome, going to make that a routine I think. Went home to pick wife up to bring her to the lake, but she had to go back into work so I just got the dogs instead. Fished the rest of the day, caught 5 decent sized bass when I started fishing a little deeper.

Sunday morning wife got called into work AGAIN at 5 in the morning, so it was just myself and the dogs. Worked around the house some, then went and rode around on the boat with my dad for fathers day. Wife finally shows back up around 6:00 and we took a little boat ride. That was over in the blink of an eye now it's back to work.

Now we wait to see if wife quits her job this week.

Re: You are going to need to elaborate on all of that,

Went to an old fort.
Castillo de San Marcos in Saint Augustine.

We went to Vilano Beach, which is just outside of Saint Augustine Wednesday-Sunday. The fort was really cool. I didn't want to pay the $15/person to get in, so we just walked around the outside. SarahAdidas threatened to rat on me if I snuck in, which is what I wanted to do. My tax money should be enough to cover admission, but whatever. It was cool.

Caught some sharks.
Tried my hand at salt water fishing from pier and surf. Nothing on the first two mornings, but on the third morning, I caught 6 small shark (biggest was a 3' hammerhead), about 5 whiting, and 2 catfish. It was a lot of fun and made the trip enjoyable for me. It gave me an excuse for alone time and gave me an outlet for my nervous energy while the wimmens layed around on the beach.

Wife got a golden shower from my son.
We were stuck in traffic on the way home, wife was driving, I was riding shotty. Son had to pee. Wife gave him a styrofoam cup and told him to stand up and pee in the cup. Due to some sort of wardrobe malfunction, his weenie trajectory got changed and he peed all over wife, the explorer, his sister, and his face/hair, and body. I remained dry. It was hilarious (to me). The only words that wifey could muster in that moment of panic was "stop it, you idiot!!!".

Got diarrhea.
Just par for the course for yours truly.

Drank constantly for 6 days.
At the beach. Drank drank drank. I showed some slight restraint, but still over did it. *shrug*

Had sex once, I think. Maybe twice.
For sure did it once with the wife. Jerked it once or twice as well. Pretty standard weekend/week.

Spent time in a jail.
We did a ghost tour of old Saint Augustine, which included a night time visit to the old jail. It was pretty cool. Scared the kids pretty good.

Seriously being serious. When I go on a vacation bender like that, I have the hardest time getting my body back to normal function. If I go 5-6 days on a bender, its at least 3 days sober and then maybe in the 4th I am feeling good and can drink again.

Getting old sucks.

Fri - grabbed a chili dog at the pool hall. Looked at a property that has a lot of potential, but a little more than we are wanting to spend, so on the fence about whether to make an offer.

Sat - Played golf with a buddy who was having a birthday. Had a birdie, a triple and two doubles but somehow managed to shoot 12 over. BigDaddy can't putt a lick right now. Went downtown for wings and beers and hung around a while, probably longer than I needed to.

Sun - hung with all the kids for Father's Day. Took them to the golf course to practice a bit. Redhead things for Father's Day while the kids were out doing some things. Went to Rae's Coastal Cafe in Augusta with wife's family for Father's Day. Good stuff, do recommend if you can find the place.

Mon - woke up to flat tire on the car. Many curse words said so far today.
