I can remember going to Fulton County Stadium in July 1992

Apr 9, 2017, 2:09 PM

to see the Braves vs the Pirates - no tickets in hand. My brother and I approached the stadium and found at least 10,000 people walking around looking to buy and noone selling. Minutes before the opening pitch an elderly man approached us, said he was our best friend today, and pulled out two tickets. We were immediately swarmed by a crowd and they tried to start a bidding war, but the man said he was having none of that as he sold them to us at face value - ended up being Club Level seats on the first base line. In the top of the ninth, with the Braves up 1-0, and the Pirates with a runner on first with no outs, Andy Van Slyke hit what initially appeared to be the go-ahead homer, when Otis Nixon came from nowhere to snag the ball as it was going over the wall. Next to Watson to Renfrow for the NC, that play is now #2 in the most exiting plays I've ever witnessed.

My best baseball memory in person.

I was there too with my dad. His work chartered a bus down from Greenville. We were sitting in outfield upper deck. Otis disappeared and you just saw a glove over the wall to steal the homer. I think the Braves only had 1 or 2 hits that night. Man, I miss the 90s Braves teams and hate to say I took them for granted.
