Things we’re worse at as we’ve aged

May 15, 2020, 4:17 AM

1. Roller Skating - it ain’t like riding a bike and the floor is further away.

2. Filleting a fish - I could fillet a panfish with no waste when I was 10. Not sure what happened.

3. Hoola hoop - tried this a couple of weeks ago and was shown up by a 4 year old.

Falling/Tripping

What’s up with that? Farther to fall or what? I’m sore for a couple days when I trip over something these days

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

How about dropping a pen on the ground

and knowing that it is going to hurt to bend down to pick it up.

I had a young lady called me to do an annual Medicare review , and she asked me if I was afraid of falling .

I told her “ hail yes I’m afraid of falling , aren’t you ? “

Sitting "indian style" or kneeling on a hard floor

May 15, 2020, 9:46 AM

Both excruciating with 52 year old knees

Sorry for the politically incorrect term, but I am too old to say "criss cross apple sauce"

Tripping and falling are easier now; the sudden stop hurts a lot more and getting vertical again takes a lot more time. The pain lasts a lot longer.

The biggest thing I miss is eating anything I wanted without

May 15, 2020, 10:49 AM

as much as a thought of gaining an ounce when I was younger. Now days it's all about what I eat and the constant fight to keep excess weight off.

Also - going to the gym and exercising just isn't as fun as it used to be...in fact it is rather "not fun" as I get older.

All this hi tech language and gadgets coming out has been making my head spin and my eyes roll to the back of my head lately too.

1. Haven't done that in 30 years, so I ain't gonna risk it

May 15, 2020, 8:52 PM

now. 2. Can filet with the best of 'em still. I think I can anyway. 3. I tried that maybe 20 years ago, and I wondered what they did to the hoops. Those things use to go round and round, now they just make about a half hitch around and hit the ground.

Bending at the knees to pick up stuff us to be easy. With the knees now, not so much. Losing weight was easy when younger. Getting to all the Clemson games and now the chosen few. The five hour one way drive is a lot harder now. Can’t remember the rest. Lol

Re: Things we’re worse at as we’ve aged

I would like to emphasize one thing that I have improved with age and that is PROCRASTINATION. For example. A task that required maybe an hour, I can now do in two or three days if it's a rush job. I made a list of things I was going to do after I retired. I retired on Feb. 28, 1986. There are still several items on that list I plan to tackle as soon as I can find time.

Another area in which I've improved. I now go to the bathroom at night more times than I did during my younger days.

Don’t think of it as procrastination Joe. Think of it as delegating tasks to your future self.
