Interesting NFL clause. I just don't see Dabo as an NFL Coach so I'm not going to worry about that one too much, but it is going to linger in the back of my mind. That's a far more legitimate worry than Alabama coming after him. There would be substantial financial penalties to go to Alabama. He can leave for the NFL anytime absolutely free. I probably worry too much. Somebody tell me to shut up and stop worrying.

Well I think Coach TB was a worrier too… You see where that got him. Maybe I'm wrong, hey he did bring Dabo in! Enjoy the moment, enjoy the ride, if Dabo ever leaves I think he's put this program in a fabulous place moving forward.

a second that the buyout would be a deterrent.
CDS to the NFL as a HC? Zero chance. At least for the next 5-7 (and more like 10+)years. He's got a LOT of reputation to build as a coach that can succeed in the NFL before that becomes a remote possibility.
Good recruiting, building character, running a zone-read based spread....none of this translates to NFL.

happy for Dabo and his family. But, how did we get to the point of paying coaches bonuses for doing what the $5m is paying the coach to do anyway? I ain't seen a contract yet where the coach gives money back for winning 9 or less. Is there any other type of job out there where you get a bonus for doing what you're paid to do in the first place?

If Clemson University wants to get rid of Dabo, the buyout is in the 20 million range. Not the other way around. Say if Alabama comes calling, it will only cost them a couple Million to get him from us. Not sure why that wasn't higher unless Dabo has told them he's not going back to Bama.
