"New music" qweshun/observation ...

One of my earliest memories is of my family huddled around the TV on a Sunday night to see these long-haired Brits called "The Beatles" on The Ed Sullivan Show. I have a brother 7 years older, and litteraly the next week he and his friends were all forming garage bands. Kennedy had just been killed, Vietnam was cranking up, and guitar-driven rock-and-roll became the voice of a genration. It outlasted the war and the hippies, and as I came of age in the 1970's, it outlasted disco. A lot of my friends were in bands. As I got into my 30s and even 40s, college radio was still pumping out good new rock-and-roll. It had morphed a little, evolved if you will, but was still unmistakably RnR. Even as I approached my 50s, I had friends who had kids who were learning drums and guitar and forming garage bands. Now, I have college aged kids, and I see a significant change. What I/we have always known as rock-and-roll is no longer a thing for kids their age. I know there are some kids that age playing rock-and-roll, but it's no longer their voice, no longer the voice of angst and rebellion with electric guitars and drums that it once was. I would almost say rock is dead - at least as I once knew it. <img border=">

But if you are searching just start with a band /genre you like and listen to that “radio” station on Spotify or Apple Music, it has shown me some new things that I like

"New" stuff Greenr has gotten into a little...

Dec 28, 2020, 7:34 AM

Both Sturgill Simpson's new bluegrass albums. The songs are old, just new interpretations of them.
Khruangbin - someone on here suggested them...real great stuff. Texas Sun with Leon Bridges is great.
Beachwood Sparks - They aint new but they are new to me. California Cool
Ryan Adams - Wednesdays - It is mellow AF and seems like an apology album for all the bad stuff he did. It's OK. I need to listen to it again.
Goose - real good jamming, OK lyrics.
