Injury doesn't stop Boulware as he prepares for Sooners

Ben Boulware's presence on the football field has become more prominent game after game. Now in his junior year, Boulware is playing better than ever despite a shoulder injury that has forced the him to play with one arm since the team’s final home game in November against Wake Forest. So, does Ben have to go around his new neighborhood and ...

Dec 20, 2015, 10:56 AM

... introduce himself to everyone when he moves in?

Creepy look you got going there Ben.

More like 70s #### star

Dec 20, 2015, 11:14 AM

Which is still creepy, in the right light

Geez guy, did your weiner jump a little when you heard someone describe Boulware as a 70s #### star?

Seems like it's not something to get worked up about unless there are other "factors" at play for you.

Male #### stars are props

Dec 20, 2015, 4:14 PM

Maybe he didn't get that memo

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't suppose it would be asking too much,

Dec 20, 2015, 10:56 AM

to ask for another pick six this year!

The D getting their legs back and getting all the injuries healed up is huge, they really gutted those last few games out. Looking forward to seeing that speed and physicality back!

"muscle strain"?? Fat chance

Dec 20, 2015, 11:06 AM

That was a dislocation, surprised he's still out there but will probably be looking at surgery in january

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

let me know when you call BB a liar to his face

Dec 20, 2015, 11:30 AM

I want to see what you have strained after that

Also shoulders dislocate all the time without needing surgery and the result is a strained shoulder muscle

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Are you the team doc?

Dec 20, 2015, 12:13 PM [ in reply to "muscle strain"?? Fat chance ]

Interesting diagnosis without a lot of data.

I Love Boulware but....

Dec 20, 2015, 12:25 PM

....go back and watch the last 5-6 games - at least back to Syracuse game and count the number of times he has over pursued in one direction and the runner cut back and gashed us up the middle for huge plays. In some cases, Ben just took himself out of the play. In other cases, he put himself in a position to be driven further out by a blocker.

Perhaps I am exaggerating, but I swear it has happened 15 times or more. If we don't fix that, those Oklahoma backs will gash us big time up the middle.

Whatever the injury is, I hope the rest has helped. I can't imagine playing 13/14 games a year against Div I level competition. Takes a special student athlete. He had a great game against OU last time. Let's hope it's a two-peat.

Playing better than ever?

Dec 20, 2015, 1:32 PM

Rebecca, have you seen any games this year? How there is not a backup who can play any better is simply amazing

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Boulware and Goodson have played over 87% of the 2015 snaps

Dec 20, 2015, 7:29 PM

and they've done that for a reason. They are our two best LBs by a wide margin. When Korie Rogers decided to quit football at the 11th hour, we knew that an already weak position was going to be critically thin.

Boulware has certain talent limitations, but his physicality and aggression are what make it pretty much impossible to play an important snap without him on the field. He's simply the best we've got, even when hampered by an injury.

Jalen Smith (who did well against Wake) is pretty much the only option right now and while he is a "baller" he's still an under-sized freshman who has limitations of his own.

The whole team needed a rest. It's amazing that everyone can make a diagnosis on what's wrong with a player, and not be a Doctor. These guys have played their heart and soul off for 10 straight weeks with no time off. They have gotten a well deserved break which was needed. I haven't done it, but ya'll get out and try it. Add to it that they have class Monday thru Friday and there is NO break at all. Hopefully, everyone is rested and healed up and ready to go against the Sooners. GO TIGERS!!!

Do Your Job: Do NOT leave your assignment: ie: USC late TD's

Dec 21, 2015, 8:41 AM

I hope that they have communicated that concept during this break leading

up to the Orange Bowl. Sooner Schooner will be practicing the speed option.
