Best defense wins: Venables pleased with win over Eagles

Defensive coordinator Brent Venables told the media last week that he thought the team with the best defense would win Saturday’s Homecoming contest against Boston College. It was never easy for Clemson’s defense, but they got the win. Full Story »

I don't think

Coach V cares. When he left and media asked him about DJ, he said something along the lines of I only talk about people who are here. I don't think he liked him leaving the team. I hope he came back in the right state of mind though.

Yeah... I t looks like DJ gonna have to step up and practice hard to get that starting position. And that is only fair.

starting at DT this year. Not after leaving your team. Those two we got starting there now are doing just fine. He can however, provide solid depth.

Re: Reader

So glad D.J. Reader will be coming back and will try to become a contributor to this team. I said "try", because I don't think BV will plug him right in to the rotation. D.J. will have to earn his playing time, as well he should. He may, or he may not, beat out those in front of him, but he has to do it to get back on the field. Isn't that what should be expected? I do think D.J. will get time, and more of it as the season progresses, but kudos to BV for honoring the guys who have given their all to the program all the way through the season and for making Reader re-establish himself. That is how it should be.

You've discounted Reader's contribution in one way

He's a senior and can ground some of these younger guys.
