NY Times insults Clemson University

Jan 10, 2017, 4:52 PM

Google recommended this article because I have shown an interest in Clemson.

Unbelievably insulting...

The university is in many ways hidden in the college football landscape, on the outskirts of the Blue Ridge Mountains, tucked into some part of South Carolina you would swear wasn’t even in South Carolina.

Its color scheme is a garish purple and orange. Its stadium is nicknamed Death Valley, but the atmosphere there manages to be intense without the mean edge found elsewhere; some Clemson fans affix little tiger tails to the backs of their cars.

it's fly-over country to them. They are ignorant.***

screw NYT, nothing but a liberal rag I haven't wasted time on in years anyway.

It was actually pretty good. Not sure where the OP got the disrespect from.

Perhaps you should give it a shot, instead of wallowing in ignorance.

LOL, I don't think the NYT is going to relieve me of any

Do you say Heil or hello or a preferred Hey?

Do you salute or do you just wave?

Ignorance is bliss and sheep minds are simple.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Speaking of ignorance...

Jan 11, 2017, 9:58 AM

in German it would be der Tiger, not Das which is the neutral gender and not capitalized. The name came from a place that I worked many many years ago.

If I choose not to read a paper that has self-admitted liberal bias and which has somehow not found anything wrong in the last administration, then I believe I am exercising my good sense to avoid ignorance by reading a variety of sources that do not filter and spoon feed an agenda to me.

Freedom of the press was added to the Bill of Rights for the primary purpose of serving the people by acting as a watchdog on the government. The Times and many other 'mainstream' media outlets have abdicated that responsibility and are inching closer to the types of state run media outlets that you would seem to also want to avoid, given the allusion in your post.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I am pretty sure that is the definition of ignorance***

Exactly! What is insulting?

Jan 10, 2017, 5:09 PM

The author doesn't think about the upstate when he thinks of South Carolina? Not everyone is familiar with ever states geography.

You don't like being called cute.?

You don't think Clemson Orange and Regalia isn't garish?.... Because it IS garish. But it is our own garish and unique color scheme and I love it.

It's a good and positive article for the city stickers you pansies.

"It was as if, in a larger sense, everyone had to make sure that Clemson, a lovably goofy team with a lovably goofy head coach named Dabo Swinney, had really won."

Really? Did Clemson win, their "just the cutest team in college sports."

That's us. Just a bunch of backwoods folks who like to dress up in ugly orange and purple. Decorate our cars and pretend we can hang with real teams like Southern Cal, Ohio St, Oklahoma, FL St, Auburn and Alabama.

Their coach really does say "dagum"...

Firstly, this guy is a fn tool. He's not even 30 years old. Don't make this a "New York hates us" thing. Look him up... he's been a staff writer for college sports for a short two years and is completely and utterly irrelevant. Prior to that, he worked for independent newsletter-type publications and his entire body of work revolves around Jewish culture and politics. Don't be so easily offended man. This guy has probably never even been to a college game, let alone a Clemson home game.

If you care to write / tweet him directly, he can be reached at:

Marc.A.Tracy@gmail.com or @marcatracy on Twitter.

Douches will ######, always and frequently. Especially Jewish ones from Columbia University that have never drank a beer, gotten laid, or been to a college football game.

Re: NY Times insults Clemson University

Jan 10, 2017, 7:37 PM

Well - I didn't read the article, mainly because I despise the NYT and what they typically represent. I'm pretty sure that doesn't make me ignorant, just very opinionated. I have the right to be that way.

That said, calling someone ignorant because they interpret something differently than you, well - hmmmm? Maybe someone needs to re-think that. I used to despise English classes, because I tended to interpret books differently that the dang professors. I guess that made me ignorant to them. I thought they were ignorant as well. I could read their books, but they sure as #### couldn't solve a dang Calculus problem of a differential equation or write a compute program. Those dumbazzes could only read books. Screw those self-righteous bastages. So before you call everyone ignorant, you'd better be able to change the oil in your car, fix a broken light switch, re-plumb your bathroom, drive a manual transmission vehicle or an 18-wheeler - or just walk a mile in THEIR shoes. If you can't, then it is re-thinking time. :)

LOL - just a rant. I love all you dang TIGERS. Life is good. Being old and retired is awesome and I just sit around and rant a lot. :)
