My take on the Sugar Bowl

Jan 2, 2021, 10:04 AM

I am certainly no expert, but here are my thoughts:

OSU had been preparing for their moment for a year. At the beginning of the season, I fully believe that they took a look at the teams they had to play in their conference this year and knew they could win easily without showing everything they had on the field. It's difficult to prepare for a team without adequate tape to study. As we saw, the Clemson defense looked thoroughly confused. I'm not saying we would have won with more of a chance to study them, but I do think it would have been closer. Kudos to OSU. Well played.

They played well and we didn't have an answer!

I'm no expert either, but we had that same year to prepare. And in fact the pundant's were saying that OSU was not as good as last year.
And as to it being closer a 2 point loss is just as bad as a blow -out.

You are entitled to your opinion as am I.

Soft pass defense coverage throughout. Missed tackles - poor angles. Where was Venables?

Roar,

Let me try a slightly different take on your premise. During the off-season, OSU (& Bama for that matter) looked at what they had to do - not to win their conference - but to beat the other elite teams that they were likely to face in the CFP. And they made their plans to change their approach accordingly.

I am not sure that Dabo & Co. take that same approach.

Last January, OSU said - What do we have to do to beat Clemson, Bama, LSU, etc. And they built their program around those questions.

My Question is: Is that what WE are doing ? Or will this loss push us to expand our horizons beyond the conference ?
