Transfer portal is ruining college football

Jan 25, 2021, 2:13 PM

just my opinion, of course. I don't mind it so much for Grad students to be able to play immediately somewhere else if that is their choice, but I don't like it in any other scenario. Thoughts?

Not sure the portal is ruining things as it is just the implementation of a process. I think the changes in the process (especially the exceptions being made) is the problem.

Doesn't change anything on our team. Jones graduated. We have other great lb's. All is normal.

ability to rectify mistakes or (d)evolving situations. Coaches get to move whenever they please and it hasn't destroyed the sport. Tony Elliott gets to use rumors of other openings every year to his benefit. Yet, Clemson continues to make the playoffs every year.

No big whoop and it allows us to free up scholarships for kids who want to be there.

I don't like an undergraduate being able to transfer so easily, but it is too early to know the consequences at this point. Need to give it a couple of years. It will be interesting to see how many kids that transfer actually improve their situation and how many end up having to move down to a smaller school because a division 1 school does not offer.
