Credentials in signatures

Mar 4, 2021, 9:33 AM

Most understand it's dooshey to put your credentials in your signature, like:

Regards,

John Smith, BS, MBA
Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

A lot of times it goes along with some equally hokey saying afterwards. I saw one the other day that somebody wrote "have a great day" in Latin. Of course, he was a infosec guy. I hate those guys.

I just saw a new one though--an email that his credentials were part of his actual display name in an email:

To:clmsntgr@oldusername.com
From: Smith, John BS, MBA

Subject: Doosheyness to a new level

This means he either administers his own email solution where he gets to choose his display name, or he made some poor admin put that "MBA" in there in there for him.

Either way, I've never seen that level of dooshrockethood over a Strayer degree.

Re: Credentials in signatures

Mar 4, 2021, 9:37 AM

And if you have a masters, why the BS? Isn’t that assumed? Unless you want to make sure people don’t think you have a useless BA.

Everyone I work with at job #2 has a PhD but me and the office manager so I have MS on mine so folks will know I’m the one that actually works around here.

I dunno..I see it all the time.

Mar 4, 2021, 9:40 AM

I see it more with the nursing and clinical type folks, but that just may be because of the groups I deal with occasionally.

But the BS, MBA is douchebaggery.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I know so little about nursing, that I don't even know the

difference. I used to work at a hospital, and all the nurses I've worked with swore they were smarter than the doctors.

I worked at a power plant years ago and the welders that would come in during shutdowns were like that. They were all smarter than the "stupid engineers". I saw how smart they were one day when we had to cut out a whole section of superheater tubes that one of them had welded in using chain link fence posts.
