Look CLOSELY at the replay. It was offsides on the KICKER

Dec 6, 2015, 12:31 AM

If you look very closely you can see him sweep his kicking foot out to the right and across the line before the touches the ball. The referee that throws the flag is staring right at the kicker when he throws the flag.

Here is the frame right after he touches the ball

Dec 6, 2015, 12:35 AM

If someone can freeze the frame right before this I think it will show his foot ahead of ball when he kicks it.

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

It is virtually impossible for a kicker to be off-sides. We got a lucky break.

By rule the kicker cannot be offsides. The rule was changed many years ago to account for soccer style kickers.

if his kicking foot goes across the line before the kick, he is offsides.

Plant foot can go across the line

And yet the rule granting the kicker immunity to offsides has still not changed ....
I believe there was offsides, just not a good camera angle to show it, and it can't be called on the kicker.

I doubt highly that's what drew the flag - these ACC officials don't even see a hold 9 times out of 10. Chances are he flagged 30 incorrectly and will take his licks from the ACC next week. I'm sure that ESPiN will use this against us sometime too (like the ND rain) as an excuse as to why we are over rated. I can't wait to see knock off M. State and Ok/Bama in Jan!! Go Tigers!!

the ref threw the flag immediately. ref has a view directly down the line while espn takes a birds eye view from a yard line 10 yds away.

It was a good call and the correct call

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Except for the rule that the kicker can't be offside

Dec 6, 2015, 12:51 AM

I agree with you otherwise

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yes he can...

Hey man, the link you are referencing says the kicker is an exception to the offside rule. His foot can cross the line and it's fine

Dec 6, 2015, 1:15 AM [ in reply to Re: Look CLOSELY at the replay. It was offsides on the KICKER ]

No. It was not a good call and it was not a correct call. Not in any way, shape, or form.

But we'll take it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

#30 was called offsides

Dec 6, 2015, 12:52 AM

probably because he was so much further ahead than everyone else and the ref anticipated the call and was wrong..he wasn't offsides on any camera angle

it was a bad call

but..they didn't call holding all night and that wasn't an interception earlier in the game..clearly trapped to the ground..which they scored off of

the better team won the game, dominated nearly every statistical category, and we are in the playoffs which is all that matters

unfortunately this is all espn will talk about now after a week of non-stop unc upset talk

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I doubt they'll even mention it at all come Monday

Dec 6, 2015, 1:13 AM

They'll talk it to death for the next day up until the committee makes their selections, and then it will be forgotten about within a day or two by everyone other than the Tarholes.
