Jordan Williams opinion

Now that J Williams is in the portal, what is the consensus about him as a player? He has lots of snaps but the stats don't wow you.
He's reached out to UNC's DL coach, Tim Cross, about opportunities at UNC. Most of our board is against taking him since UNC has so much DL talent in the freshman and incoming freshman classes. I say he may be a help until the younger guys develop.
Opinions?

Many of these portal players are leaving because of lack of playing time. Trying to transfer to a school that is somewhat like the one you are leaving makes no sense. Coastal Carolina should go after these guys. They are a winning school and many of the transfer guys would probably start there.

I don’t have an opinion, but what I know is that he is leaving one of the top three programs in football that recruited him so he is an exceptional player, hard worker, good person. Carolina would get all that and then some. Unless Carolina is just too full or the DL coach is an idiot he should offer him a scholarship. Doubt Mac keeps an idiot on his staff.

From what I saw of UNC's defense this season, he's a take.
A take in a major way and you should ask if he has friends he could bring with him.

With the assumption that Williams would perform in the manner for his next team as his did for Clemson:
Jordan Williams will not lose games for his team and he will not win games for his team.
He will show up every day and do his job exactly as he is expected to.
He will not be a discipline problem.
He will improve team morale.
He will not make the amazing play to save/change a game.
He will not have a huge bust to cost his team a game.
By all accounts he was an excellent player to have around Clemson young defensive linemen this season.

Need to add a #6 to the Evaluation

#6... Does it really matter what I rate this, since they have already decided your evaluation anyway and 2020 sucked so we are giving out bare minimum or nothing at all and blame COVID on our business performance.

Above average. Decent-to-good. Could be a late-round pick for the NFL.
Moves well, 300+ pounds, athletic. Plays a little high and stiff but I think he had some surgery a year or so ago and has a rod in his leg so I dunno if that slowed him or not but it didn't help.
He'll help UNC, and probably start. I'd certainly take him if I was UNC. Heck, he's helped us and been a solid-to-strong rotation guy at Clemson.

There is a TD bandit on the loose in the TNETs today.
No clue why someone would TD this post.

Who knows. Probably just a Q hater... We've had lots of good posters that invoke great talking and assessment material that get run off if they ever point out a truth. I'll probably get one for that.
Welcome back.

Here on T-Net you have to walk on eggshells. If someone don’t agree you get the TD and it doesn’t matter that we are all entitled to our own opinion. They should just scroll on by if they don’t like it!??

He'd do wonderful anywhere he went but I'm with the other posters, go somewhere like coastal or a Cincy and be their star. Tons more exposure than a UNC etc where he's likely to be like here - lost in the rotation.
Hope no one takes this negative but I thought when he committed, he'd be a no miss star. All the accolades that he was Austin Bryant, cle missile etc... Would form the next power ranger group. I guess he got stuck being a tweener and gained too much weight. Or did we intend on him always gaining weight, or was the DE room too crowded.
Anyway, thank him and wish him nothing but the best.

I believe our coaches knew all along that he wasn't quite athletic enough to play DE.
They planned for him to gain weight to play DT.
I'm not quite sure what could have made the difference in him being a starter and being at backup at the DT position but things just never took that next step for him.
I'm sure his injury had a lot to do with his ceiling as well.

Thank you for the explanation. I had totally forgotten about the injury. That makes sense. Hopefully wherever he lands he'll ball out and blossom and get his chance at the next level.
Appreciate the info and knowledge all of you bring about Clemson sports.

Thanks for the opinions. You've confirmed what most UNC fans are thinking: that he would be a solid but not spectacular DL in the rotation. If our coaches think he can help, then I'm 100% behind it.
Clemson transfer Kyler McMichael is performing splendidly for us and is and will be our starting corner for the next several years. I met his family on the plane to Miami last weekend (to the Orange Bowl)and they could not have been a nicer group of people. I passed this along on IC and told our subscribers that I would take any current Clemson transfer sight unseen, since Clemson is very selective in their recruits and does not recruit "problem" players like some other schools see eg., Tenn.

Agreed ..and with more snaps he could really take off....
Consider this - for your fans saying well we’ve got more young talent on campus and on the way ...
Jordan Williams was a 4 star recruit...stars are a nice predictor but by no means a guarantee... Jordan is a proven player and a good one ... You really don’t know what you’ll get from incoming freshman ...
Jordan’s no scrub and may yet achieve his full potential...

Sounds like you've got a pretty good bead on the situation.
As has been previously stated, he's no scrub and he's a proven commodity. He's got a high upside and there's a reason Clemson recruited him. Clemson's 2cnd string DT's are generally good enough to start at any school with the exception of one or two other programs in any given year.
He definitely hasn't reached his full potential.

Jordan imo did a good job at clogging his gaps. But not much extra. Didn’t seem to have that “high motor” coaches talk about. Good servicable linemen though.
