I'm excited about getting the JUCO players, as long as we don't recruit the criminal ones like Auburn does. Go Tigers!

Google - Clemson New Degrees finds

Clemson Press Release from a couple of years ago.
CLEMSON — Clemson University trustees approved new majors aimed at broadening humanities opportunities for students and gave the final OK for building and renovation projects at their April meeting Friday.
The trustees approved six bachelor of arts degrees in the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities: Global Studies, Women’s Leadership Studies, Cinema and World Cultures, Pan-African Studies, Sports Communication and Religious Studies. The majors are offered as minors now and faculty would be shared among them. They are being funded by reallocations within the college.
The new majors reflect the need for graduates who have broad global views and are based on student demand.
Also approved by trustees are a Ph.D. in Applied Health Research and Evaluation and a bachelor’s of science in Youth Development Services, an online program that enables some former students to complete their degrees.
The board gave the OK to offer online the master’s degrees in Professional Communication and Civil Engineering, which are aimed at working professionals who are seeking additional education.
The degrees could be available by fall 2013, pending the approval of the S.C. Commission on Higher Education and the university accrediting organization, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

He didn't want JUCO's to come in and potentially stop Clemson from being a top 20 university from what I heard.

The world would be a better place if everyone could make fun of each other and not get your panties in a bunch. Oh yeah.....and I'm Jewish (well half, my dad is), go ahead and say I'm cheap, I don't care because its funny......and somewhat true.

You folks never cease to amaze me. What is wrong with an African Studies major? You do not have an issue with African American athletes scoring touchdowns, so why an issue with African Studies?

What does one do with a degree in African Studies after one has one?

Same things you can do with an art history or any history degree that doesn't include 'education' in the title. Lots of degree's are relatively worthless other than they are proof you went to college. A 2 year degree with the additional 2 to 3 years or real world experience can often times be worth more than a 4 year degree alone. A degree gets your foot in the door, the rest is up to you. Put any of those degrees with an 'I played football at Clemson' and you'll probably have a lot of options.

Hopefully this isn't the same African studies degree program that UNCheat has. UNCheat African studies was a very low budget, very low cost degree program that didn't need a class room, nor a professor.

the scenes. This is a necessary evil of today's college football landscape. These majors all sound relatively useless but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do these days. There are a lot of JUCOs that can make a significant impact immediately.

Need to copy Duke's 90 hour sociology degree program. It includes lots of correspondence and online courses. The details were revealed during an ESPN interview with a Duke basketball player a few years ago. I think that was the major for most of their team for a couple of years.
