It is just me or is Bank of America Stadium...

Dec 9, 2019, 9:27 AM

the absolute worst at getting fans into the stadium?

Part of the problem is there are only three main gates.

In the clear bag line, there were five or six metal detectors but only one was being used. Are you friggin' kidding me !?!?!?!

The lines were unnecessarily long and slow and I have no doubt a number of people missed kickoff (again) because of it.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Which is why I got there an hour early.

Clemson fans should know by now.

There's something in these hills.

The game time was announced quite a while back.

How could anyone miss the kickoff?

So did I and therein lies the problem.***

Yea, it's never great. This year was especially bad - we're walking up to the gate and the lady scanning "tickets" (phones) yells something, directed to my fiancee - something to the effect of "the girl in the orange can't come in". We get up to the front and she confirms that my fiancee isn't allowed. We asked why and she couldn't come up with a reason - she said something came over her radio saying not to let her in, but she wasn't sure who said it ("there was a lot of chatter, she didn't know") or that it was even my fiancee that whoever was talking about, since everyone was in orange. We weren't drunk and she wasn't making a scene, so no idea what the deal was. Eventually, a Charlotte cop walked over, heard our case, tried to plead with the ticket people and they weren't listening to him either. So, he told us to follow him and he escorted us in, through another gate.

But, when you have the clusterf*ck going on with scanning everything, the metal detectors and now also ticket people being judge and jury with deciding who can and can't go in - it's just chaos at that place every single year.

Last game for us was the UNC game. Got in line about 45-50 minutes before kickoff. Missed the entire first quarter. Basically the people check tickets were laughing about how slow they were working and how many of us were going to miss the start of the game.

We will never go back as long as it is in Charlotte.

Nah. Come on back - it's not that bad anymore.***

Wouldn't be an acccg if the lines

Dec 9, 2019, 9:35 AM

Weren't a hassle.
It's a tradition.

I wonder if it's that bad at Panthers games too?***

Don't think the Panthers have enough attendance for that to be a problem.

Sometimes they are, especially for night games.

The problem with the ACCCG is that people all try to funnel into one entrance (the entrance facing the Mint St Parking Deck). I like to LOL at them. The other entrances are not nearly as bad.

I hit the line at 6:30. Took 15 minutes to get through the metal detectors and bag check. 3 minutes to get through ticket check. 5 minutes to get to the food line. 5 minutes to get food. In my seat by 7:15. Great experience.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would guess we waited about 20 minutes in the metal

Dec 9, 2019, 9:44 AM

detector line - but then no line to get the tickets scanned. I was worried the new ticket policy would cause issues there...but it didn't seem to.

I guess knowing to get there earlier than you think you need to is the key move...

We always get there early because it takes time to get our crew organized...

Dec 9, 2019, 9:48 AM

So, no problem getting in; however, some of those bag check folks were incredibly rude to my mother.

Those folks need some training on customer service.

What annoyed me more than anything was always being asked for my ticket. Once inside I knew we would have to show it to get to the seats. I had all our tickets on my phone. Later on my brother went to concession area and someone ask him for his ticket. Well they escorted him back to our section where I had to again show the ticket. We visited family in another area and again had to show tickets. I guess It must of been very easy to sneak in to the stadium bc that wasn’t the only time it happened.

you are right, its a complete cluster. Its always athat way. BofA stadium is a complete dump. I watched the gestapo confiscate poms--poms from someone grandma. Its more of a danger being grouped in such a mass of people than what someone might bring in. Overall the Charlotte experience is B-movie at best. Ive been to every post season game for the past 6 years and Charlotte was gotten worse and worse. Fan fest was pathetic. They use to have concerts and all sorts of vendors in the park or on the street. We won and I love it but the promotion of the event is a joke and a far cry from the SEC Championship game. I blame Swofford

Went to Peach Bowl last year in MB Stadium.....

Dec 9, 2019, 10:06 AM

before flying out to Cali for the NC. They (MB Stadium) have the absolute BEST entrance system. Walked through two different scanners and had my ticket scanned and hardly even broke my stride. Came in with thousands of others about 30 minutes before kick. Wife went through bag check line and it took 30 seconds. They had a lot more people and a lot more lines of security. A very well-oiled operation.

I mentioned this last week.....CLT is the right city...but BOA stadium needs upgrades. Becoming a dated NFL stadium.....reminds me of TIAA Bank stadium in Jax. Hopefully Tepper can get a roof....a dome would help attendance and improve the experience greatly IMO.
